What can I put on my resume between now and till I receive the result of the LIII exam? Am I still a Level 3 candidate?
2010 CFA level 3 candidate
Bluecollarhero, CFA pending.

yeah if you really put that on your resume, the designation probably would be pending another exam next year.
How do you guys designate someone who has passed all 3 tests, but still doesn’t have the WE necessary for the charter? You aren’t a LIII candidate… what are you? “CFA Candidate?” “WE CFA Candidate?” How does one self-identify their status of having passed all three tests but not yet being a CH?
I believe there is something like CFA affiliate member as long as you pay dues. So you can say that.
Yeah but you can become an affiliate member even if you haven’t passed a single level of the CFA… I would be inclined to differentiate myself from just the affiliates and illustrate that I have passed the requisite tests, assuming I had.
CFA in bold and then - a born genius that has proved his geniusness through earthly measures like passing the exam in first attempt… (i assume pass untill proved wrong otherwise)
CFA Candidate -passed all 3 levels of the CFA exam and currently awaiting charter (after you find out whether you’ve passed or not of course!) Until then… CFA Level 3 candidate, June 2010
I’m gonna put “Level III CFA Candidate, But I Like My Chances”. That’s not a violation, right?

You are not a candidate unless you are signed up for an exam. None of us are candidates. You can write something like: completed Level III examination, currently awaiting results.

You sure ?
Don’t take my word for it. Here is Standard VII (B) Referencing Candidacy in the CFA Program from your ethics book. A person is a candidate in the CFA program if: 1. the person’s application for registration in the CFA Program has been accepted by CFA Institute, as evidenced by issuance of a notice of acceptance, and the person is enrolled to sit for a specified examination; OR 2. the registered person has sat for a specified examination but exam results have not yet been posted. Yes, I’m sure.
BTW - this is the best time to be in the program. between the time the exam is over and the results come out. you don’t need to study anymore, you still call yourself a candidate, and you don’t have to tell anyone you failed…
good point.
If you pass L3 but don’t have your charter (i.e. you haven’t paid your dues and got all the paperwork through), this is what you can say (according to the guidance given on page 106 of the 2010 L3 Book 1 regarding use of the CFA designation): “A candidate who has passed Level III but has not yet received his or her charter cannot use the CFA or Chartered Financial Analyst designation” Recommended usage: “I have passed all three levels of the CFA Program and may be eligible for the CFA charter upon completion of required work experience.” From other guidance, I believe that you can also just say “I have passed all three levels of the CFA Program” if you want to keep it shorter.
