One page summarizing your qualifications and stuff is too much if you want it, have one section for “highlights of qualifications” before getting into the meat.
What is CFA(USA)?
C’mon, didn’t you know that USA CFAs > other CFAs. This cat fancying stuff is pretty competitive.
Well, he’s from india, and there is another organization that’s hijacking the name of CFA, buuutttt… I would say something like CFA Institute (Charlottesville, VA, USA) or something like that - instead of CFA (USA).
and what do you mean by “Recently completed the Charetered Financial Analyst” program? I would say be specific - L2 candidate etc or cleared L3 .
Display a positive attitude in facing challenges? Either add some substance or take that out - thats a filler sentence.
if you’re going to include hobbies, be specific. saying you like sports is kind of lame. interviewer: “so you like sports, eh?” interviewee: “yes, sir. lots of sports” interviewer: “do you like watching them, playing them?” interviewee: “both, sir.” interviewer: “what kind of sports do you like to play and watch?” interviewee: “i like to play golf and cricket. but i like to watch soccer and hockey” = lame conversation better route: interviewer: “so you like cricket, eh? do you play?” interviewee: “yes, sir. basically, once a week for the entirety of my life” interviewer: “we have a company cricket team. we’d love to have you play if we can get this whole hiring process dealt with. you’re hired!” ^ not quite BUT the idea of listing hobbies is to make you more relatable to the interviewer. the quicker you get to talking about your mutual love of the same hobbies, the closer you are to being hired.
This resume formatting is awful. Perhaps part of it is due to the site formatting, but nonetheless you have sections for “summary”, “key strengths”, “core competencies”, and “executive highlights”. These sections are different how? Start over. Follow a normal resume template with sections like Experience, Education, Skills. One page only, no exceptions.
For both myself and my clients, I developed a resume template that’s similar to the HBS template with just a few more stylistic changes. Despite greater structural and content-related issues, formatting is also critical as justin88 pointed out. However, it’s also one of the easiest things to fix, and there really is no reason why you should have formatting / font / paragraph errors. If you or anyone else wants my resume template, drop me an e-mail and I’ll send it over. It’s a Word document, so you just have to drop your content in. Easy peasy.
