Hi, after battling 2 hrs of panic attacks, I mustered the courage to look into the 2009 exam i took last year… scored <50 on first Qs last year… reviewed the question now, i think what i wrote in exam deserved more than 50% atleast, so the only reason that didnt happen could be that we don’t get that many points on partial credits i guess! what do other retakers think?
There’s a difference between doing these questions in the leisure of your home/office under comfortable conditions versus doing them at the actual exam with all the accompanying nervousness and anxiety. Perhaps your answers were not that clear to the grader or maybe the grader had trouble reading your writing. The danger of self-grading is that we automatically assume that we should get points for something we “know/studied”. The grader can only gauge our knowledge by what is actually and legibly written down. There is often a difference between what we think we wrote and what we actually wrote. Also, remember that graders are not looking for “fluff”. You need to answer the specific question asked in a manner that is precise, organized and legible. Hope this helps.
exactly my sentiments Famosa - you have identified the behavioral bias in my approach correctly!
