Good Ribs are amazing. I prefer red BBQ sauce or dry rub.

When our analysts in South America come up for a visit, the only thing they want to eat is barbecue for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Having eaten at a lot of churrascarias in SA, it’s likely because they find meat here to be comparatively flavorless.
That’s exactly what I would do… I’d tell them to go to Texas, KC, or North Carolina depending on what they want. However, I haven’t met someone who doesn’t like Memphis barbecue… We have a barbecue restaurant on just about every corner so you’re bound to find something because it’s not all dry rub here.
Oh…Is the meat just grilled plain or something?

The Rendezvous is garbage. It’s where all the tourists go. Raymond James takes clients there these days, that speaks for itself. RIP Morgan Keegan & Platinum Plus. If you want good ribs go to the Germantown Commissary.

ETA - just read the rest of the thread and it seems the guy is sincere in offering BBQ to others. In that case the Rendezvous ribs are fine and eating there is an experience that everyone should enjoy at least once.

Your logic is flawless. You state “A guy that knows what he’s talking about.” to make make yourself appear more as of an expert than someone else on the topic, and to support your claim, you used “Lots of tourists + Raymond James taking clients there= the barbecue is garbage” as your argument. Nice one.
There are definitely other good barbecue restaurants in Memphis. I stated earlier that if you don’t like the Rendezvous then there are several other places here that you can go to. Off the top of my head, some of the others that I’d recommend are: Tops, Central, Corky’s, The Bar-B-Q Shop, and Tom’s Barbecue.

The meat in SA has much more flavor (not sure if it’s because how livestock is raised or how the meat is aged), so they probably find they have to have BBQ here to get some flavor.
