I have a morning ritual that I go through before every big exam. I call it “The Terminator”. First, I crouch down in the shower in the classic “naked terminator traveling through time” pose. With my eyes closed I crouch there for a minute, visualizing either Arnold or the guy from the second movie (not the chick in the third one because that one sucked) and I start to hum the terminator theme. Then I slowly rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me to proceed to the exam as an emotionless, cyborg badass. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It ruins the fantasy.
Have an alarm clock and alarm from your phone. Make sure you have gas and verify if there are any construction work on your way there.
Prepare for not sleeping at all, sleep Thursday night as best as you can. Study during lunch, don’t bother socializing till after it is over. Find out how many Rockstars will kill you, and back it off by 2 sips. “The Terminator” is absolutely essential on test day.
^ extremely important. Had red bull and grilled chicken sandwich during lunch break in all three levels (no tea/coffee).
Day before the exam is spent reviewing things I know I sould be looking over and that I have a strong feeling will be on the test. Mainly just looking over notes but doing some problems as well and reviewing the mock exam. Pretty much trying to cram as much as possible into my short term memory and eating lightly to prep for the long following day.
Early evening I stop completely and relax for the night and go to bed early and try to fall asleep. This time includes a bowl of pasta for dinner, a glass of red wine, and a BJ from the gf before bed to help me fall asleep quickly. Worked wonders the first 2 years, slept like a baby…heres to hoping it works for L3!
I don’t do any kind of mental work on Friday, but if something pops into my mind I’ll casually look it up in the notes or AF or something. Otherwise its all tv/video games/naps/clean the house/whatever. All the stuff I’d forsaken for the last few months. Hit the movies in the evening to distract me from thinking about it (but no popcorn, that ish kills me the next day), quadruple check that I’ve got everything lined up so I can just grab and go in the morning, and end with a little scotchy scotch to help me fall asleep.
I studied all the way till 11 pm on the night before, woke up. studied. Studied at the test center before and during lunch. Usually the obscure formulas that I haven’t learned yet or felt I wouldn’t remember for long.
nice escort service the night before + caviar
Don’t talk to any friends who are also doing the exam the day before the big event. They will freak you out and confuse you more than anything. It will affect your confidence. You had 5 months to study and ask questions with them, the day before is not the day to have conversions about the material.
Play a game of Sudoku before the morning session. It will be a nice warmup for your brain.
Take the day off? seems obvious but some don’t.
And just have plenty of rest.
Yoga if you are into it, at least go for a run/walk/swim whatever clears your mind and keep the circulation going!
I usually take the week off before the exam. It’s taken from my vacation days.
I’d rather sacrifice 1 week of vacation than doing it again and give up another 4/5 months.
I went out and drank the night before L1 (which my fellow AF-ers refuse to recommend) and just hung out at a friend’s house the night before L2. We’ll see what L3 holds for me in June. I’ll probably take half days Mon-Thurs and Friday off the week before. I can’t study all day if my life depended on it, so working mornings and studying afternoons will probably work well.
Studying all morning and playing games all afternoon works even better. Work is just unnecessary distraction during that week, unless you can’t get the time off.
Give me you address, and I’ll send you my unused adderall.
No Fap!!
I shave my head a week before the test so I dont pull them off. I literally take time off work then study grind the practice tests where I would start the day before and finish around 8 Am only to wake up at 2PM then REPEAT. Days turn to nights, nights to days kind of thing. This includes 5 hours of doing random crap though, chores, food, tv, COD, push ups, and punching bag. So about 70 hours of studying in one week. For food I typically go to subway because at this point I dont want to cook/clean, the employee once asked me werent u just hear yesterday night after pulling it for 3 days. I tried to explain to her the CFA Program, and I noticed at this point I probably looked crazy/enthusiatic so I just stopped myself and said i’m just really lazy. haha.
