Last minute question… Should I pay to do a CFA mock exam? I have an abundance of resources but no time to do it all. I know the CFA mock is suppose to be good for learning question format & difficulty… BUT is it worth it for me to buy it? So far I’ve done Schweser B1 #1AM/PM, #2AM/PM, CFA Sample… and I’ve gotten high 60s on all of them. I figure I only have time to do 1, maybe 2 more practice tests… and realistically, I don’t think my chances of passing are that great… So do you think it’s worth it for me to buy the CFA mock or should I just do the Schweser book since I’ve already got it?
Schweser. I honestly don’t think taking a mock exam will help your score on the real exam. It’s only useful for pointing out your weak areas, and if it’s too late to work on the weak areas there’s no point taking a mock. So take the Schweser today, figure out what you’re weak at, and study up on that 2morrow
Thanks f2d, great advice… I think that’s what I’ll do.
Yeah, from what I hear the CFAI mocks don’t tell you what questions you got right and wrong. So for reviewing purposes, it’s not very helpful.
How long does the CFAI free sample mock take? the full 3 hours?
Is it really no worth taking the Mock at this point? I was planning on taking one tonight and one tomorrow. I’ve taken the 2 samples so far…
Gordon, the CFA free sample is 60 questions and you get 2 hours to complete it. I think f2d was saying that in my case it’s not worth it to take… but maybe it IS worth it for you!
buy mock on gumtree london and do both the exams. True exams is absolutely like this.

The mock exams have exactly the same feel and style as the actual exam that you will be taking on Saturday. The real exam is NOTHING like the Schweser practice exams. Schweser exams are ok for learning the material, but will give you an unrealistic feel for the actual exam. Taking the mock will help to prepare you for the real thing. If you haven’t taken a CFAI exam in the past, I highly recommend taking the mock.
yeah you should take the mock. the way they word the questions is different from schweser… really different. do your self a favour and try the sample/mocks.

OHH crap I just read this post now! I just did Schweser 3PM… there won’t be time for a mock tmrw! SHOOT… well I took the free sample… are the questions on the real exam similar to that one??

I don’t think that the exam is that much more different than schweser exams, except maybe much less calculations. But, once you get all or most of the concepts, the format doesnt really matter, your brain will adjust. One guy at work said he took 2 schweser exams and scored in the mid-high 60s and he passed the exam with flying colors, he said he was not very confident because of the low scores on schweser but at the exam itself, he said he was just crushing it! it seemed easy. Don’t worry, you’ll do just fine!
at least look at the cfai mock. you can just read and click through all the questions in an hour. i think you can tell just by doing that the style of the questions and which concepts you didnt know. so write down the call of the question and study. you dont actually have to do them but at least you see the wording!
