Sample Exam Scores

CFAI Sample Exam V1: 66.7%, got lazy when had to calc ATER but otherwise fair questions and wide variety

Took it today and scored a 55%. I thought it was very hard, and part of me wonders if CFAI made it harder than what the actual exam will be? There were a lot of calculations required, but I’ve heard that the actual exam isn’t really like that (more theory involved than number-crunching). Can any L2 re-takers who have taken CFAI Sample Exams comment on how it compares to the actual test?

exactly my thoughts with the L1 samples, i “failed” both L1 samples and passed the exam with +70% in everything except econ! I wasn’t a fan of the single question style, why not just lay out all 6 at once! it was calc heavy on FRA/alternatives, found ethics/quant/equity rather easy

you guys are definitely ahead of the curve by taking these practice exams.

Scheduled to take it next Saturday.

Damil, you have twice postpone taking this sample exam, any reason? -:O) You want to score 100% at the first attempt. -:o) Ok, I am scheduled for next sunday.

fuck me you lot are doing the sample already?! i’ve just started my way through eoc questions having finally gotten through all the material!

Does anybody know how many sample exams are there available now? Last year there were a total of: 3 sample exams (each sample exam with 30 questions) 1 mock (AM/PM total of 120 questions)

i believe there are 2 samples and 2 mocks, the samples are up now, we get 1 free mock exam when they are released, i believe in early May

Thanks for answering, but just one more question. How much do the samples cost, each sample exam?

First use: US$40 per exam. Subsequent use: US$20 per exam http://www.cfainstitute.org/cfaprog/resources/sampleandmockexams.html

From the CFA site, the samples appear to be 30 questions? Are the mocks the full 60 + 60 questions??

samples are 30, mock is 120 i believe, its all on the cfai website in the candidate toolkit

took sample 1 yesterday, 61pct., compared to level 1 this result is pretty bad. I had feeling that I used my level 1 knowledge only and couldnt remember anything from l2 properly. and there are 36 questions, 6x6. I was suprised after 30th q that there was another set. good luck

I need to make sure my sample score will help raise and/or maintain my confidence level.

I got a 61 but after spending the whole weekend going over it, it’s actually a pretty easy and fair exam. Have to stop getting nervous while taking these tests and making dumb mistakes. The answers are straight out of the CFA readings. Most of them word for word. Glad I took it now cause I feel like I learned so much after going over it. Don’t worry Damil, the more mistakes u make now, the less you’ll make on exam day. Go for it.

wait when you say you went over it, are they downloadable exams (pdfs) or are they the online ones? Did you just copy the questions to review?

Online ones. U can print out the answers at the end but they do not give u the questions.

^^CPA - ‘‘good question.’’ ^JP - ‘‘smart answer’’ CFAI- no violations.
