Hello friends, I am basically an SAP SD functional consultant with 3 year & 6 months experience. This is my total professional experience at the moment. I believe, i have got strong problem solving and analystical skills. I have done MBA with IT & Marketing specialisations. I am interested in pursuing the CFA . Hence , need your epxert advise on this . 1. With IT experience only having, will it be suitable for me to pursue the CFA. 2. What are the job prospects for the candidates like me who has no experience in Finance but want to pursue the CFA. Your valuable advise will shape up my decision regarding the pursuance of the CFA. Thanks in advance Sourav
- Lots of people with an IT background pursue the CFA. It’s a bit of an up hill battle because you’ll need to find a way to get a job in the investment industry, that and you need to get 4 years experience before you can get the charter (so it may take longer than someone in the industry). 2) Job prospects are fair to middling. Mere passing of the exams probably won’t get you that dream job, but passing the exams, a couple of job hops and some strong networking may get you to that dream job. It all depends on your career goals and interests.
Hi Sourav, Just because you have strong prospects and analytical skills is not enough reason for pursuing CFA. What really makes you want to do the CFA? You need to figure that part out first. Or are you just jumping into the bandwagon, because you went to the CFA website and was impressed by the information they have published there? Remember you are committing yourself to several years with the books, and no guarantee of job. Are you really up for it? Or do you have genuine passion for the CFA curriculum?
