Schewiser Package - which one to choose.

Guys, I have been surfing through the Schewiser website and came across various packages - premium package, studying notes package etc. What do you think I should go - am writting my exam in DEC 08 - considering the time scale that i have? Are Qbank questions useful? Your help will be much appreciated. Thanks… ahmed.

So I pressed the search function button above and entered ‘QBank’ ‘All Forums’ ‘1 year’ and got 2187 hits. That would lead me to the inference that there is lots of discussion on AF about QBank which would then lead me to the inference that it is probably a useful thing. Now Ahmed didn’t do that or can’t make the inference. So Ahmed, what do you think financial analysts do that is more central than collecting information and making inferences? Sometimes there are some really good indications that you are headed down the wrong road and maybe you need a new plan.

JDV: kind of sick ‘n tired of seeing the same ol’ questions, huh?

No, not really ( sick ‘n tired of seeing the same ol’ questions ). I haven’t been here long enough for that… Ahmed, I find QBank to be very useful as are those online exams. If you have the funds for it, I’d say you’re better off selecting the more comprehensive package. Don’t forget the Secret Sauce book.

Thank you very much for your reply… i indeed searched through the threads and read in depth about the two materials - but still finding it critical to choose which one, as we are analyst old posts differ than new posts, with the material being changed for every exam Now some people have recommended me Stalla and some schwesser for different reasons - now am more concerned with schwesser, but do you guys think studying schwesser only will give me good change of passing? or do i need to pay full attention to the CFA books? Thanks… ahmed.

I think you need to consider this for yourself. I bought just the Schweser books & the Q-bank, and I find that I’m learning considerable amouts from this. (I also was a finance major as an undergrad.) I tend to cross reference the tougher topics (i.e. FSA) with the CFAI books. Again, this depends on your unique backround. If you were a English Lit major in school, then both sets of books (and all the Schweser bells and whistles) might not be a bad idea. However, if you’re familiar with this stuff then you wont need all the online courses etc. Schweser seems to be the favorite vis-a-vis Stella.

If I am going to read the CFA materials, would you really give the nod to Schweser over Stella? I’m considering buying the pack with the video CD’s. I’ve only seen a sample from Stella but have seen books form Schweser. Stella seems a little bit more in depth. I can’t figure out if that is a benefit or not.
