If you had a choice between working for an institutional fund manager and a prop portfolio of a major institution, which one would you pick? Which is the better option long term career wise?

Pick the one you like best. I’d pick property.

fund mgr hands down. better $ prospect in the future.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. The work itself is similar (primarily fixed income) but as I’m talking to both hiring managers I’m getting the sense that I may have to start at a more junior level position at the fund manager as opposed to the prop portfolio…could I go with latter and use that experience to move on to the fund manager at some point or I’d be stuck with it?
