Series 7

I signed up for the Series 7 for 2/4/10 and spend about 8 weeks to study. Do you think how to manage to pass without retaking it again? I registered for CFA level 2 back in Sep, and I have to put this aside until Feb to study. Any comment on the Series 7 would be appreciate! I am using Securities Training Corporation self study plus the On-demand CD Rom. Thanks.

You’re fine. Shoot me an email and I’ll give you a 40 page study guide.

If you cover the material, you’ll be fine. There’s a moderate amount of it to learn, but nothing tricky.

QuantJock, I am taking the Series 7 in Jan. Can you please email me the study guide as well. Please email me at sterngrad1@gmail.com Thanks.

8 weeks is too much. Just do the questions on the CD and you will do fine.

Hi, I took the 7 back in May and passed successfully (94%) with the STC exam prep materials. Do you also have access to the online resources? I only had the online plus the binder. Regardless, here are some tips for you: (1) Study the following chapters and know them like the back of your hand, as they are tested most heavily and most people lose the most points on these chapters: - The Over-the-Counter Market - Option Markets and Option Accounts & Other Option Positions - Economics and Securities Analysis - Exchange markets - Municipal Securities (2) Take all 13 Q&A Exams first, keep taking them until you are successfully scoring above an 85%. When taking the Q&A Exams, make sure you are understanding why the right answer is the right answer. Often, it is tempting to just read the explanation and just memorize the answer, which is something you don’t want to do. (3) I would say that 60% of the actual test questions appear WORD FOR WORD and ANSWER FOR ANSWER (in the same order) in the STC practice exams, so know these well!!! I finished the exam in 2 hours and that was because so many of the questions were the same. (4) Make sure to have your mental endurance up before the exam - make sure to take a few closed book practice exams under testing conditions before the test. Good luck. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, K

What is the format of the test? Time Length etc…

^ www.finra.gov you don’t need to take this. Not required to work in telecomm company.

Well, here’s the quick and dirty nuppal: - 250 Multiple Choice Questions (4 Choices) - 7 Hour Time Limit - 70% is passing - Computer Administered Exam - Need to be employed by a FINRA member firm in order to sit for the test - Often you need to pass the S63, S65 OR the S66 in order to become a registered representative and be able to open/administer client accounts - Covers the following topics: Annuities Basic Option Positions Corporate Bonds Customer Accounts Direct Participation Programs Economics and Securities Analysis Equities Exchange Markets Fundamentals of Debt Introduction to the Securities Industry Issuing Exempt Securities Margin Accounts Municipal Securities Option Markets and Option Accounts Other Option Positions Packaged Products Retirement Accounts Servicing and Maintaining Customer Accounts Taxation The Over-the-Counter Market The Securities Act of 1933 and Underwriting Equity Securities US Government and Money-market Securities Let me know if you have any questions!

The 7 is a pretty easy test provided you read the STC material and do a bunch of practice tests. The questions are identical to the practice tests so it is very difficult to fail.

Thanks kkny! Very informative.

i studied the night before the exam and the weekend before and soared by with a 72%. you should be fine
