Settle the argument

It’s a tie between George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton.

Definitely Sean Connery.

The first movie I ever saw Connery in was Indana Jones & the Last Crusade, where he plays a bumbling old fool.

Years later, I saw him in a “typical” Connery role, and I though, “Wow. When did Indiana Jones’s dad become a BMF?”

Out of the question.

Craig’s Bond movies are generic action movies. I enjoy the movies and don’t blame him, but his version of Bond lacks the charm and sophistication that makes Bond different from all other spies. Connery is far and away the best bond, with Brosnan a distant 2nd. I grew up with Roger Moore as Bond and originally thought that he was the best, but then I watched Connery a few times and changed my mind. I think if you combine the best of Moore and Craig, you get Connery.

FTFY

Bond’s in order:

Connery

Brosnan

Moore & Craig

Lazenby

Niven

Daulton

Connery just seems a bit too… shiny

But I guess it depends on the taste

Craig’s movies are just a lot better than the old school bond films with comical villians bent on world domination, and Craig is supposed to be a gritty, working class Bond.

Seriously, never seen die hard? Yipee kai yay motherfucker?

I’ll stand up for McClane. He’s the one normal guy on the list (Bourne is some sort of brainwashed superman; Braddock is an indestructible Chuck Norris). Great sense of humor and a total BSD.

Bond is not supposed to be gritty or working class, he’s supposed to be sauve and debonair. In fact, Bond’s creator initially thought Connery was too brutish for the part and preferred David Niven. I get that Craig’s Bond is an effort to bring the character more inline with what modern audiences like, but he’s not really Bond. The comical villians and gadgets, along with the classic persona of Bond, are what make Bond movies special. Current Bond movies are visually entertaining and I enjoy them, but they’re really just modern action movies that are leveraging the Bond name.

    1. John is just a normal cop who, when put into nearly impossible situations, finds a way to prevail. Bourn and Braddock are trained killers.

John just wanted to come out to the coast, get together, and have a few laughs. Bourne has never had a laugh in his life.

I never said Bond is supposed to be gritty and working class, I said Craig is supposed to be gritty and working class as that’s the direction they’ve taken with the character. These joke villians and dumb storylines were the reason the older movies were stupid and childish, and the newer ones are far better.

Connery. Watch To Russia With Love and tell me he is not badass. It is the only movie ever made where I’m positive people were injured during filming, except maybe that movie with that crazy Muay Thai boxer.

Connery is the best Bond. End of discussion from this old school Bond geek. I do like Daniel Craig a lot but I’m not sure the current movies make much sense. I’m still trying to figure out the plot of Skyfall, which, BTW, had a rather ridiculous villain.

The best Bond movie story in my opinion was For Your Eyes Only.

Now i just want to take a day off, get some gelato and binge watch all of them!

I quite like Craig myself. Think he’s the best Bond.

On the original question, Jason Bourne just had a panache about him that the other two couldn’t match. Cinderella Man was a likeable guy but lacked the quiet menace vibe that Bourne could give out and Mclane was too much of a redneck.

The Bourne triology was awesome. ‘I would stand in line for this, there’s always room in life for this’.

Dr No, You Only Live Twice and From Russia with Love are my favorites.

Goldfinger, Casino Royal, Her Magesty Secret Service are second favorites.

I think Daniel Craig is okay, but I felt like the films were too Bourne. Bond would never do Park-core (sp? the russian building jump thing).
