LOL at the CFAI employees who have nothing better to do than to mine this forum for grey area possible violations. I seriously hope they are not charterholders. Can you imagine - you get your chart and then use it to read forums and blogs by people who are studying their butts off just to bust someone for mentioning a question that was given on the exam? I would say that masturbating to animal porn is a more honorable way to spend one’s time than that.
@ ninja_economist
K is preoccupied with his " Pass Level 1 by listening to me and doing what i say" philosophy. If someone talks anything which some how doesn’t match his philosophy he rejects that right away and the attitude he kept all time is just listen to me dont ask. How can someone give feedback in that situation?? I think one shouldn’t join his academy next time and that’s the best feedback one can give which really affects.
K is a member of Analyst forum. He doesn’t post regularly but Im quite sure he visits frequently (for instance; to gauge his competitors popularity… lol). May be co incidently he finds this thread and may realize how ppl are taking about him (even from saudi arab… lol) or you just tell him if you meet him in future. That should be another way of feedback.
Although one thing is confirmed he has got great knowledge and information. I would love to talk him and listen his stories but once i pass all 3 levels
@ shailjamehta
very creative example, you gave. Just reminded me the fantastic memory of junaid khan getting wicket of Kohli three times
@ Ayesha
There has been a significant development. I mentioned it before, I purchased l2 videos of Arif and I watched FRA part and i didn’t like that… i felt presentation style was very different… I sent him a mail complaining this and in return he refunded me. Now i start feeling really bad about this, Im the one who is spreading words everywhere he is good and in the end Im the one who doesn’t like him. So im very sorry to u and esp to my close friends whom i literally forced to buy his videos or all those who followed this thread. I decided to abstain myself from giving advices. I think you have got all the info and effective decisions requires relevant info. Make the decision which suits u and remember that portfolio mgmt revolves around one concept “Dont put all your eggs in one basket.” So dont spend all your money and time on one instructor/video lectures series etc so do diversification (this is my last advice before abstaining myself …lol)
Raza but you suggested that Level 1 videos are good? As in you have experienced that and faced issues with just Level 2, right? Because for 2013 he is offering a package for around 100 dollars that you purchase only those videos that are about changes in the syllabus. Rest will be the same as that is available for free. I’ll be looking at quants through Elan’s free vidoes though.
Studying from K was a major mistake I made. And since then I have been advicing everyone against him. He is so expensive too! Skipping things isn’t really the way to go about stuff. Nearly all those people who focused on the curriculum, didn’t leave out anything and really understood the concepts have passed.
Yes i watched all L1 videos and suggested he is best based on my experience. But some of my friends whom i suggested to buy L2 and offcourse those who follow this thread or anyother thread might start believing if he is good for L1 he could b best for L2 as well. So i was saying sorry in general sense (so everyone could fit in).
Again there is a another problem. My l2 experince is based on FRA sample. May be his other topic videos are good. And i start saying he is bad i dont like him and infact he is not bad at all. So best is i should stop saying anything either good or bad.
I think your plan is perfect. the only thing that’s required is start study and stick to the plan. Topics like Technical analysis and corporate governance just require to watch videos 2 or 3 times and then u may afford to skip reading material.
Have i told u how i overcome Quants ?? when i first read the probability reading i couldn’t solve first end chapter question and i was literally so worried that how i gonna understand this. Then i found elanguides videos on youtube. I downloaded those and watched regularly for almost 2 and half months. Regularly means twice a week, then once a week fortnightly etc i bombarded my mind with watching them again and again. This is how concepts started to take place in my mind. Same thing im ready to repeat for L2. If u can do it then try it atleast weekly and believe me in the end you won’t feel any need for revision.
Oh yes you are right about generalising it. But for L1they’ll be good. Now that I have overcome my emotions and fears etc, I am starting my studies. Not going in to difficult topics straight in as I don’t want myself frustrated right in the start Lol. March shall be my month of tackling the areas I found hardest. Elan’s videos I have heard a lot of rave about. Hopefully those combined with Arif’s will help. I will probably bookmark the most important ones and try to watch them every two weeks or so. Thanks a lot.
Btw Raza are you a full time student?
Yes, sort of
He is missing too many details in FRA in L2 videos
@ vicky_cool400
so u agree with me that Arif 's FRA videos lectures are not satisfying !
Yes i am reading CFA book myself properly now . Even his L1 FRA videos were average. He doesnt have good grasp of FRA. But he is a one man army, Teaching all 10 subjects is not a joke. And for 200 $ its still better than scswer etc.
Atleast he explains concepts unlike scswer. Just that FRA he is weak. Hopefully he can improve his FRA lectures
Yes he is way better than Schweser.
double post
I think the conclusion is that Arif Irfanullah’s videos are good for some people and not as good for others. Some people like different approaches to material and that is OK. At the end of the day we all have our favorite prep material providers and, in my opinion, the best approach is a “mosaic” approach where you don’t just rely on one resource but pick and choose what works best for you.
Discovering this mosaic of materials that works best for you is part of the CFA studying process and I’d like to think that choosing the right materials can make ones life signficiantly easier. Studying smart and hard is the way to do it.
Wow
Mr Arif has taken the criticism seriously for FRA in L2 it seems. He has complely revamped and uploaded new and better and bigger videos for Reading 20- Employee compensation which is considered the toughest in L2
Great work by Arif. I am happy now
Yes, he frequents the forum! And I hope if he reads the thread, he’ll take the criticism positively and address the issues. If level 1 students are having issues with his teaching methods, I can imagine the condition of level 2 and 3. I’ll meet him next time I’m in Lahore and convey the message (without the name of course )
