Similarities between CFA L2 2012 and 2013 Materials/Exams

I started studying for the CFA L2 June 2012 test in Feburary 2012 but then decided against taking the test in June and am planning on taking it in 2013. SInce then I have been taking it easy and have finished reading the Schweser notes as well as taking some notes of my own.

So my question is after all this prestudying if the material for CFA level 2 2012 is the same as the material for 2013. And if not, if anyone knows of the differences between the two.

CFAI changes the curriculum every year - but not by a vast amount. They’re likely to change a few LOSs in the readings for each book but for the most part its very similar. Biggest change if I remember correctly from 2011 to 2012 for L2 was Alt. Investments where most of the LOSs if not all, were different.

Changes will include:

  • Removal of all references to €

  • Ethcs update on trader codes “give me some milk”, re:. Barclays

U should be a member of cfai’s editor team :))

Most of the time the wording in the LOS can change from “compute something” to “explain something”… minor details like that… certain topics can be removed and replaced with better material (like Hedge Funds were for 2012)…

I honestly don’t think carrying on with 2012 material will hurt you… as soon as 2013 stuff comes out, then switch over… Also, there are usually places online where you can find the changes from year to year…

Without a shadow of a doubt : Studying in advance with 2012 stuff is way better than sitting on your ass to wait for 2013 stuff!

you Could start with something like quant , and derivatives , that should not change much

The best place to find changes online is Finquiz.com, its pretty useful in comparing LOS changes between two years!

I dont believe that the new 2013 cirriculum has been released , at lesat till tomorrow when the registration will be available
