I received a letter to my home address marked private and confidential. It was to do with the CFA doing an investigation on my exam/ exam paper because of “similarity”. They mentioned similarity analysis? I been told that the investigation will begin in 30 days and they would like my response by then.
I received the letter on the 19th January and I am still in a state of shock not to mention how low and ashamed I am as I have not done anything wrong. I am totally lost and have never had any issues with exams/exam boards in the past throughout my education life.
I would really like some help on what I need to do. This is the worst thing that can happen to me as I was so looking forward to moving on to level two having studied and spend countless hours of study for the past few months. I know I have passed the exam because having failed the first time I decided to really work hard and was happy with the way the exam went. I work full time but decided to study for the CFA because I am passionate about the CFA programme and have learnt so much from it. I see the programme as part of my life.
Please, What is required of me in this response to this investigation and what is the next step(s).
Any advice will be much appreciated. Has anyone come across anything similar.
Miss Cleo, If I remember correctly you were sobbing your heart out and making ridiculous remarks about your self-worth etc. not too long ago because you failed level II. Many people chimed in with encouraging remarks, yet it seems that you have nothing positive to say when it comes to other people’s issues. Perhaps you enjoy other people’s misery because you are a miserable person yourself. Here’s a tip, why don’t you spend let time dicking around on analyst forum and get your head in the books.
MissCleo is a rather bitter individual. Didn’t she talk about suicide by gun or something for failing one of the exams? Seriously, it’s a freaking exam. If your life is worth less than an exam, that’s quite sad.
Nah I’m with Cleo, especially after your post stating a link to another post ON THE SAME EXACT SUBJECT WITH MANY RESPONSES is useless. Nobody can give you a formula to solve this son - that ‘useless thread’ should give you an expectation that whatever you’re hoping for with respect to a speedy resolution should be thoroughly revised. Have some fun, pick it back up if/when they let you if you still want to. You’re going to have a break from CFA exams for a while (look up as referenced in one of the MANY similarity analysis thread the link to PCP investigations - you can see how long some have been open for). Sorry you’ve got to deal with it, but it sounds like you came here hoping for some sort of information that simply isn’t out there. The linked thread above should reinforce that one for you. Good luck.
No. Ms Cleo assumed the guy was guilty. We don’t know that. Maybe someone copied his sheet. Plus, Cleo is habitually bitchy to other posters. That is why people respond poorly to her.
Did you get a score on Jan. 24th via email as well? Or was this letter in lieu of a score? I would respond in detail outlining your thoughts and actions on exam day, and that you did not cheat and was not aware of anyone cheating from your paper.
Thank you Calvol for your advice and to the rest for the input. All I am/was looking for was some advice on how I should structure my response. I simply didn’t want to write a short response and was just looking for guidance. That’s all. Thanks again.
