From what I gather its something like: CFA registration - $1000 Schwaeser Books - $600 Calculator - $40 Are these correct? I am thinking of getting work to pay these for me and want to understand whether it is worth it before starting the process… which requires sign off from a zillion people
Something like that, really it depends on how much extra prep you think you’re going to need. Registration is about $1000, and there are all sorts of Schweser/Stalla packages you can purchase. Keep in mind that depending on your company policy, they might only pay for the actual course, and not all the supplemental stuff.
^I agree. My work only reimburses the cost of actually taking the exam and I believe it is only if I pass. You can get the actual cost of taking the exam from the CFAI website and it gets more expensive the longer you wait to register.
It’s worth it to do the samples and mocks in the weeks leading up to the test, I think the two mocks are $100 and there’s two samples at $60 each I believe.
$1000 CFA Registration $800 on Schweser (Books, Secret Sauce, Q-Bank) $25 to renew my license before the exam, because it expired day of $60 in Gas in a CRV- they ain’t too bad on gas. $40 in turn pike tolls driving to Phila cause they don’t offer it in Pittsburgh in December $150 for 1 night in Philly ~$200 to feed my Fiance and I for 2 days in Philly. $16 to park for 1.5 hrs for dinner $350 in bar tabs to celebrate 2 weeks of freedom I just realized this is costing me a lot of money!
Let’s just say you’re making ~$40/hr at work—what’s your free time worth? Shouldn’t you take that into consideration before getting the zillion sign-offs?
I’m a level 3 candidate and thus far my NPV looks very bad and far, FAR below zero :-).
