Solving problems taking a lot of time

I noticed that solving problems from CFAI examples and EOC takes a lot of my time.

is it just me or its same for others?

Thanks,

Not just you… It takes an unusually long time to answer questions, but some of the questions aren’t even multiple choice. I have a feeling that they intentionally make it a bit harder than the real thing. That was my experience with level 1 but 2 could be a different beast altogether.

yes some of the EOC questions will take longer than the actual. it’s good practice actually

They’re intended to teach you the material, not merely to test you on the material.

They are certainly time consuming, but you will thank yourself later. I get more out of doing the questions than I do rereading the material.

Very time consuming indeed. I find that getting through some of the Equity EOCs and take up to a couple hours. As the other commenters noted though, the EOCs are where you actually learn by getting to apply the concepts in the readings.

I thought I was the only one

How long does it take?

Like on average how many can one do in an hour?

Would like to draw up a schedule…

For some EOCs it takes me about one hour to finish 3 to 4 questions. (especially the EOCs on swaps.)

I learn through these exampls and concepts do get cleared. but this has messed up my Plan on how much I’ll be able to finish by April…

I failed the Level 2 exam in the 1st attempt because of time management… it was taking a lot of time … my vignettes told me to go for Qs not for vignettes but opted for vignettes n wasted time … nw i go for Qs and there solutions n not fr vignettes

Interesting… I’ll give this a try.

Thanks,

Huh?

I believe he’s saying that he read the vignette first, then the questions; he then had to reread the vignette, wasting time by reading it twice.

Does anyone thing think this possible or not possible?

Do Questions on weekends - 60 EOC Readings

Read through Elan Guides on Week Days - 4 Books Left

Write up Cue Cards on Weekends - 400 Cue Cards

Finish Everything by April 17th

I guess it depends on how much time you devote per day, but for my schedule that is not possible as I tried the exact same approach except w/ Schweser and minus the cue cards. I tried to do Schweser weekdays and EOCs on weekends and the problem was that the EOCs take too long to do and I found Schweser was not preparing me well for them so I’d have to go back and read most of the CFAI chapter.

I switched to strictly CFAI, skimming chapters and highlighting and then doing EOCs. I’m feeling much better about it than the other way and am staying on schedule for the most part. Whether or not it will result in a pass remains to be seen…

Which EOC questions are you finding the longest to do?

For me the BBs were taking the most time so decided to avoid BBs and concentrate on EOCs.

I did the exact same thing! I am using Elan Videos and CFAI text to review some concepts I dont know, but mainly doing EOC questions from here on in.

Then straight to exams!
