Hello people, I apologize in advance for the lazy post. I openly admit not doing any homework on this and not making the effort to read prior post on this topic (sorry… just getting old…). Long story short I got the charter in 09. Haven’t opened a book since then and feel like I need to get back into something ‘intellectual’ as my day job is like alcohol and just killing brain cells. Would someone have the infinite patience and kindness to give me a brief summary of what it takes and how to start if contemplating the FRM? 1 Books (Schweser again I suppose?) 2 Exam dates (I believe I read Nov & May?) 3 Reasonable hours required (I think I read 100hrs for LI and 250 for LII) 4 Cost (have no clue) 5 Annual membership cost? (already paying annual CFP + CFA fees… those 3 letters are getting expensive…) 6 Where to register (don’t laugh… no clue who’s offering this test. Could probably Google it) Again, hope I am not getting on anyone’s nerve. Yes I am looking for a shortcut, but at least I am honnest about it
I must have rubbed everyone the wrong way to not get any answer in 2 months!
Thx Wendy. That was super funny this link. How in the world did you do that? Anyway… yes… I did look at the GARP website and read just a little bit. However I was hoping to get more of an ‘outside’ opinion. I will never forgot when I started studing for the CFA and the website said you need about 250hrs… well… I had to put much more than that to get that charter…
If you eventually come up with some questions that can’t easily be answered by googling, you will find the participants on this site to be very helpful.
Wow, FRM crowd is much tougher than CFA crowd. Looking forward to bond with all of you
That’s it, I’m in, ordered the books, paid the registration fees and ready to go! Looking forward to a new challenge. This actually looks touger to me than the CFA material (altough I believe CFA exam is probably more of a challenge due to popularity). Besides I hate derivatives… I guess this one will hurt.
I can take no take no take no more
Hey crablegs, remember you from CFA, we did L2 and L3 together I think. Good to see known names. I just registered and got my books today, FRM forum seems a little distant compared to CFA forums I was used to in 2008 and 2009. Hope all is well.
