Any takers on the study group? If not let’s just start a Fight Club, beat the crap out of each other with our HPs and #2 pencils and call it a day. I live in downtown Fort Lauderdale but could travel to Boca or Miami if needed. Good night. --dea
I’m down for the fight club, but only if you allow the Texas intstrument calcs…
The only rules we down have down here are no kneeing to the groin and you must use an HP in RPN mode. Sorry.
Will Kimbo Slice be there?
Damn… so I out b/c of my TI!
Im in Melbourne, WBF u guys still on?
Kimbo is involved with a CPA fight club. Makes you lose a little respect for the guy. Rubik, I’m new to the internets. What does WBF stand for? Melbourne is a little out of the way so I don’t see either the study group or the fight club happening. Peace out, dea
LMAo ( West Bumble F$#%)…Thanks though-I am from NewYork City- moved down to Melbourne/Palm BAy- still asking myself why… =)
Because its paradise baby! At least from November - May. I’m probably moving back to the Northeast myself in the next year hopefully with the charter in hand. Best of luck on LIII and drop me a line if you are ever in the Fort Lauderdale area. later
Sounds like we have a decent So Fla crew here. Mind if I ask how’s the finance industry down here? You guys at banks or some of the local hedge fund shops? Private wealth? Trying to figure out what the market is like in this area. BTW, I’m a Dec 08 L1 Candidate, just wrapped up my MBA/MSF from FIU. Thanks in advance.
It’s not on the same level as a NYC, Southern CT, Boston, Chicago, LA or San Fran but there are opporunities and not many qualified candidates so use that to your advantage. BB’s obviously have a big presence in Miami as it is a corridor to all their Latin America business. Hedge funds are littered up and down the east coast from WBP down to Key Biscayne with the majority located in Boca. Franklin Templeton has some asset management positions in downtown Fort Lauderdale. There are a handful of Fortune 500 companies in the area so corporate treasury is also another option. The majority of firms specializing in private wealth management advice are in WBP from what I understand. I recommend joining the CFA South Florida Society (based in Boca) or CFA Miami Society as an affiliate to increase your networking opportunities if you are eligible. For full disclosure: I’m a member of the CFA South Florida Society currently working in corporate treasury. Best of luck!
dea_cfa what’s your e0mail? I have a friend who’s moving to sflorida who going to do level 3

What did you think of the FIU MSF Program? I graduated from it in 2005, just finished my MBA from UM, and just finished L3. I am curious to hear your feedback.
