Start studying now??? No study done yet. Failed last year (9 bracket). Could have 3 full weeks off work to study.

Yeah. Thats seriously quick. I can usually do the schweser books at a rate of about 10 pages an hour which I thought was quick. At that rate it’d be 100+ hrs. To do it in 50 is serious speed.

50 hours for the schweser. i seriously think that should be average… CFA notes are a completely different story. to OP, yeah, i think u can do it in 3 weeks full-time study (but i mean “FULL-TIME”, as u mentioned). basically i think the last month is 50%+ (if not 75%) of the value for anyone… if what’s going on at work is really important and will help your career, i would certainly think of skipping this year. you ain’t missing much on the street right now by not having it.

I have not touched the CFAI Curriculum, just schewser, and read real quick through everything…I found the read through to be much easier than Level 2, except the GIPS section which was as painful as watching paint dry. Phillybanker, No questions, just pure reading through the stuff…I am just starting to do the CFAI EOC Q. In conjunction with Schewser CDs.

NV Candidate, i love schweser too. and it sounds like you’re doing the problems in CFA which is key… i will say that i think there’s a reasonable amount in CFA that isn’t in schweser. some of it of course isn’t in LOS. shocks me how there are some decent-sized sections that aren’t in LOS/schweser

Cheers westbruin. Would really like to get it out of the way. Just don’t want to spend the 3 weeks and end up failing again. Definition of madness is to approach something in exactly the same way and expect a different outcome! Hopeing that whatever I retained from last year will help me. Out of interest - Does anyone else study this way? Nothing all year and then cram everything in in the last month? Would be good to hear from anyone who is taking this approach but I’m guessing most people who take that approach wouldn’t be on this forum…

I was in band 9 last year and I have put in about 60 hours this year (reading schweser notes). I only have one week off and feel pretty confident. If you make the most of those 3 weeks then you will be fine. Also depends on how fast you can read. Traditionally I am a crammer. the whole of level 1 in 3 weeks before exam and 80% of that was in the last week. Level 2 was 75% in the last week before the exam. Last year I started early and took it too easy in the last week and that’s why I failed. It’s all about the sprint finish for me.

Good to hear someone else with the same approach. Did you get new schweser this year Blamey? I’m thinking of just working off last years and using CFAI if there are any LOS not covered. Guessing there isn’t much difference between last years and this years. What do you think?

if you can do the 9 am to midnight almost every day for 3 weeks, then i don’t think it’s that big a deal. but most people probably can’t do the hours. as an example, i’m watching national heads-up poker and golf channel pre-game show for the player’s championship. and pretty sure i’d be watching if i only studied 3 weeks straight
