Strategy for Answering Long Questions

How do you guys approach the longer question format. Do you read the questions first then dig for the information? … or do you read the question first and then hit the questions? It could come down to a matter of preference, but I wanted to hear other peoples opinions.

i haven’t ever felt a huge time crunch on these tests, so i normally give the text a read first and then go to the questions and work my way back. things i do like to do- if there are statements like elixer said BLAH and bannisja said BLAH, there prob will be a question about whether they are correct/incorrect, so i tend to just check off if i think the statement is right or wrong when i first read it. i also if on 1st read see something that is clearly a wrong statement, just make a little note or circle it or whatever might clue me back to it. i don’t dive into any numbers/calcs until i read the questions first- there are a decent amount of item sets that give a boatload of numbers but you really don’t have to get your hands that dirty in all of them. so i wait before i break out the calculator until i know i have to do something. i’ve heard a lot of people who like to circle the word MOST or LEAST in a problem to not make a really stupid mistake on a question. i dunno- i think just don’t freak out b/c it’s long. you have plenty of time to answer everything.

i like your stream of consciousness way of writing, b

i’ve read the sound and the fury and ulysses… eek, no wonder why i liked them both?

I am totally in banni’s writing fan club. She types while thinking at the same time and the the words flow as her thoughs fluctuate. Which is way too diff for me as I am non-native English speaker and 1st need to think, and then draft it into words so as to be understood by most people here.

Great advice, thank you

I highlight and write swear words in the margin if it’s ethics “this fucker violated standard V(I) right here…” “the asshole tried to get away with taking clients from his company before his last day”
