Struggling to keep motivated - any advice appreciated!

Hello everyone.

I failed my level 1 exam in December, in band 10. I was gutted when I saw the results - thinking of all those many hours of studying which went into it, to not receive the prize at the end really is a bitter pill to swallow.

I have resolved to trying again in June 2013. I was so close first time around - and considering I do not have any formal education background in finance, economics or accounting (I am in IT back and middle office support and development), I am trying to convince myself that band 10 really wasn’t a bad start for a first attempt.

Getting back into the studying is proving difficult though. More difficult than anticipated. I am pleased to say that I really did genuinely enjoy most of the material first time round. Now it seems like a real chore. I can see where I went wrong through - I think my fail was probably a good thing in some sense because the bit I have re-read in Quantitative Methods really showed I did not understand it as thoroughly as I thought I did.

Anyway, I am sure there are many others who are in the same boat and I wondered how you are coping getting back into the swing of things. Any tips / tricks / advice would be greatly appreciated as I just don’t want to give up now that I am so close.

Thanks everyone!

cheers kill L1 yes

I can imagine what you are going through. I opened my books yesterday and boy was it hard. I kept getting irritated and it took me hours to complete one reading. I guess it’s going to take a few days to really get on track. Just hang in there!

Strong message there! reps for bringing it up!!
