Hi, new to this forum. Just wondering if reading through the CFA texts, doing their problems, and taking their mock exam is generally enough prep for the exam? I do have a finance background having graduating with a BBA in 2013. I do see a lot of mention of prep programs like Schweser. I would like to avoid shelling out more money for these programs if possible. Are they more geared towards people who haven’t taken finance courses. I am also just starting to study now so I am not sure if I would even have time to study from two books. I’m sure this has been asked before but I just wanted to hear thoughts specific to my situation. Thank you very much!
CFA books are definitely enough. The only question people really ask is if the 3rd party books are enough.

Yes, the CFA Institute books are enough.
Yes. The CFAI books are most geared towards people that want to pass the exam.
And people who want to actually gain knowledge. The flip side to it is that it may be too theoretical and cumbersome.
But curriculum DEFINITELY covers everything you need to know and then some (a lot)!
Bit of a stretch, but for some reason this scene came to mind when I read this question:

CFAI curriculum is more than enough. I’ve been an avid proponent of Test Prep notes. I think they are much shorter and certainly enough to pass the exam.
