Id say yes. In HS youll have pitchers hitting low/mid 80’s pretty regularly. Its been a while since I have played but in 6 months certainly. Get swing mechanics back, get timing down, fair ball? Sure. Its not like you need to be hitting .300
Normal at-bat is the key here. Even an average major league pitcher likely has one or two solid off speed pitches. There is literally no chance.
NFW. I don’t think you appreciate the difference between a kid throwing 80 and an MLB pitcher, who not only throws 90+ but can hit any spot he wants (including under your chin) and can throw +/- 2 other pitches that are nastier than you’ve ever seen. You have zero chance.

taking into account that I’m 37 years old, approximately 120 lbs overweight, and haven’t participated in any kind of real athletic activity (beyond weightlifting and jogging) since I was in the Marines (12 years ago)…

I really dont know man, I played ball with plenty of people who played in the minors. Coincidentally it wasnt the best ball players I knew that played minors, just the kids with rich enough parents they could afford to make no money and waste 2/3 years before they admitted to themselves they werent going to the MLB. They always say the minors is 99% of the guys just being there so the 1% with talent can get reps in and prepare.
Obviously MLB is another level and it would be a challenge, but I am pretty certain in 6 months prep time I would be able to get 1 FAIR BALL. Not even a hit, a fair ball. That isnt even mentioning with knowledge of a pitcher you would develop over that amount of time you would know what pitches they like to throw in what situations. Guess right on a change up or curve and you can easily slap that 78mph to opposite field. Im not saying by any means i have the talent to play in the majors, I am saying over many many many attempts, the numbers are in your favor if you have every played baseball as an adult (and werent terrible)

So the guy who played ball with plenty of nobody minor leaguers somehow extrapolates to easily able to handle an mlb pitcher. Makes perfect sense. So because I played against (and got hits off of) pitchers in HS who became 10 year mlb pitchers, that means I can handle the best of the best of the best no problem. I mean that’s next level overconfidence. You’re not responsible for anyone’s money are you?
alright i didnt read the question properly, which is my mistake. I have 1 major league at bat after 6 months, no id not think I would. I was under the impression that at any time during the 6 months it would count.

Considering batting .300 makes you an all-star, no, I don’t think any of us could so much as make contact with the ball.
