TLDR version of this important news: California based tech company outsourced motherboard production to china. These motherboards were used by many companies and also the US military. Turns out the Chinese had installed a spy chip on those motherboards, and presumably, had been accessing some of the US data.

Apple just denied that Apple has used spied chips. Apple is only one of dozens of customers that contracted to accept motherboards from this company, over many years, and through many different hardware configurations.
Yeah, the denials mostly focused on specific details. Seemed pretty flimsy.
