How do I solve for x? x/106 + x/(1.065)^2 + x/(107)^3 = 55.341
If it multiple choice, substitute the answers
algebra :-/
X*(1.065)^2*(1.07)^3 +X(1.06)*(1.07)^3 + X(1.06)*(1.065)^2 = 55.341 you have a linear equation. Solve for x
Times both sides by the highest denominator. In this case 1.065^2 Comes to 2.07x = 46.5396 X= 22.483
22.483 is not correct
I was looking at q1. Q2 multiply both sides by 1.07^3 1.158x + 1.08x + x = 67.79 X = 20.98
Answer is off due to my rounding but you always multiply both sides by highest denominator
20.95 ?
2.641 X = 55.341 X = 20.951 you have 1/1.06 = 0.94334… 1/1.065^2 = .88165 1/(1.07)^3 = 0.81629
I think its easier to say X*[1/106 + 1/(1.065)^2 + 1/(107)^3] = 55.341 but, thats just me… EDIT: CPK posted the same logic as I was posting
Somebody mind to rewrite the entire procedure step by step?
I have done it… please read each post step by step
Yep. Either method will get you the answer.
