switched to Schweser from Stalla for Lvl2

and the only + I see so far is that the Q bank is cool, but you can purchase that stand alone. I really really don’t like the videos since they read off of the slides; Peter Olinto is the crown jewel of Stalla. The Schweser Notes seem a little depleted when compared to Stalla. Of course the jury is still out but right now I guess I wish I had a combo of the two.

I read through the Schweser L2 notes and then started working on the CFAI text. I have to admit, the L2 notes are not as comprehensive as the L1 notes as I would expect it to be. But that could be due to the larger amount of materials involved in L2 than L1, and Schweser continues to compress materials into 5 books. This year’s Schweser L2 notes are released last among the three levels. This is not to imply Schweser was rushing the notes out, but it could simply be that the annual updates have becoming increasingly difficult and time consuming with the current 5 books standard. I would suggest just pick one study notes (Schweser or Stalla) and stick with the CFAI text. Then work on as many practice problems as you can find and afford the time to do.

yeah thanks for the advice I am not going to spend another 1.2k to buy the Stalla material, not even for Peter Olinto. Doing practice problems will be the way to go, but so far I feel the BIG PICTURE has been of much more importance than in L1, whereas L1 you could get by with just memorization but in L2 you really need to make the connections within the LOS’s.

I can’t speak for Stalla, but Schweser really tries to boil the material down to just what you need to know to pass the exam (which for some, can mean that you miss out on additional explanation that helps you to make certain connections). I’m making up for this by working the CFAI practice questions and consulting the CFAI text if something doesn’t quite click for me. I figure that if anything major is missed by Schweser, I’ll find it when I go back to the CFAI text, and otherwise I won’t spend too much time reading CFAI unless I find that I need more detail on a specific topic.

I am taking a different in the sense that I am reading the CFAI text and really using Schweser as a supplement to really help me nail down the major concepts. I feel like CFAI is really dense and has lots of excess info, but it definitely has helped me see the bigger picture a lot better as opposed to just reading the Schweser notes.
