Take home pay and expenses

I got to thinking from the taxes thread… what % of your take home pay do you spend on your basic living/operating expenses? Obviously it’s going to vary based on where you live and single vs married, but I’m just curious.

For me, 22 y/o right out of school, my monthly gross is about 4,200 and net is about 3,300 (after $200 contribution to my 401k). I only spend about $1,100 or so on my fixed expenses (rent, utilities, insurance, gas, etc). Keep in mind that I live in Texas, so relatively low lost of living. Then I usually have ~$300-400 in random discretionary expenses. The balance accumulates to go into my Roth IRA or my regular investment account.

How about you guys? I’m especially curious about anybody else close to my age.

That seems about on par. For TX about 50k is about the standard entry level 70k wall street salary
