Anyone consider this as a hobby? I was thinking about taking the GMAT or GRE just to see how hard I would crush it. My grades have always been ok but I am a machine when it comes to standardized tests for some reason. PSAT, SAT, ACT, MCAT, Series 7/55/63, CFA, you name it I’ve steamrolled it.
Never really considered it as a hobby, but something needed for career success. I think I’ll stop after CFA and CFP. Did you really take the MCAT just to see how well you’d do??
No I had thought about going to medical school so applied to those while looking for a job. Job won.

why don’t you do something that you aren’t naturally good at? Thats what I like to do for self fulfillment… better than just proving what you already know, no? …maybe learn a language?
Good point. I’ve taken up distance running, sucked at it my entire life and figure now’s a good a time as any to start.
Has anyone taken the MCAT?
I’m thinking of taking it for an MSTP program (PhD/MD). It is a lengthy program, but they pay for everything. Also, there are bound to be hot doctor chicks. Its really hard to get into though. My GPA and resume are good, but i’m going to have to slaughter the MCAT.

These percentiles are very odd. It does look damn near impossible to get in the 40s.
Next time I talk to my bro-in-law, I’m going to ask him if he knows anyone who has hit 40+. He’s at arguably the top school in the world doing his residency in one of the toughest specialities and if I remember right, he hit 38. I could only muster a hacksaw score of 25, twice.
I think what’s really difficult about the MCAT is the depth and breadth of the material. A pre-med student takes:
bio 1, bio 2, genetics, chem 1, chem 2, o-chem 1, ochem 2, physics 1, physics 2, and perhaps a few more that I am forgetting. Along with those, there is a lab class associated with it.
Before we started, they said, 100 will start, by the end of freshman year, 50 will remain. By the end of sophemore year, 25, by the end of junior year 12. Out of those 12, 6 will get in med school.
The MCAT tests the final 12 out of 100. The competition is extremely fierce.

Any U.S. med school. I don’t know if they considered Carribean med schools or not but I don’t think they did.
U.S. medical schools are fairly competitive. Most schools have low acceptance rates (<5%)…about 150 seats for 4,500 applicants (obviously, this depends on the school, but it’s not far from others).
