Taking the test in Washington DC

is anyone taking it there? if so, just wondering if you know what the parking situation is going to be like? Thanks!

I am. and Im not sure yet. I will do a test drive on Friday to scope it out. ill let you know.

There should be plenty of parking in the area. Specially that early on a Sat. Otherwise I highly recomment the metro… it’s convenient and it’s right outside the station.

Yes, it’s really downtown. It’s in the convention center close to Chinatown. Took it there in June too. Very convenient location. The problem in June was that it was the same day as the Race for the Cure, and many roads were blocked, but this time there shouldn’t be any problems.

ok, appreciate it. I live in NW DC, so I guess i should give myself 20 minutes or so to get down there in time. But like you said, early Saturday mornings are the best time to drive in DC.

I’m taking the metro from MD.

i’ll be walking there from a hotel. but it’s gonna be a long walk. i think it’s North of the MCI Center where the Wizards play - if that helps you any.

i too will be walking from a hotel, but it should be less than a block away according to the directions!

thanks for all the input, i might just end up taking the Red-line Metro from MD too

For any second timers: Are we all in one big hall or several smaller rooms? Chairs comfortable?

I will have to come from VA. Suggestions? Car/Metro?

Definetly take metro from VA. Its a straight shot from what I remember from last year. It was in a huge cafeteria hall. Chairs aren’t terrible or really comfortable. They were just plain plastic bucket seats.

Where is everyone going for lunch (I know most of you have boxes) 1) having lunch 2) to munch over some basics again… so it would then be the “return of the dragon”

Took the L2 test there last year. 1) It is in one rooom…in June it was the large exposition hall (about 2000 people taking the test…will be smaller since it is just Level 1 this time. You will be divided into sections of 30-50 people for which there were 3 proctors…All proctors wear Black tops/black pants with yellow vests. You will sit on hotel type conference tables with enough space between you to spread your arms completely out. The is a place to leave your bags that is guarded. Not a lot of lunch places inside…recommend packing. There is an outdoor lot about 1 1/2 blocks away to park in. Don’t write on your Exam ticket. There will be water coolers and a bathroom in the exam room.

thanks a lot jason …do you happen to know which metro stop should i get down at?

The closest METRO stop is Mt. Vernon Sq/7th St. Convention Center on the Yellow or Green Line.

There’s a subway right across from the metro, but from what I recall of June it was packed. There’s another little cafe/sandwich which took me 30 minutes to get a bite, so needless to say I’ll be packing a lunch this time. It’s also right by Union Station, not a bad walk to get something to eat.
