David Tepper, a hedge fund manager, moves from NJ to FL. The loss in state income tax might be so large that the NJ state legislative budget and finance officer said it might effect their budget planning. What a BSD!!!
And the government doesn’t think people respond to incentives and penalties. Go take/retake Econ 101. The rust belt is screwed as the baby boomers retire and take their money to greener pastures. I lived in FL for a while and the coastal areas are overpopulated by people from the NE, IL, MI, etc. who love how far their money goes. Particularly those with pensions denominated based on the high COL salaries they used to earn.
We in the wonderful sunbelt can only hope they don’t screw us over by voting in politicians like the ones they left behind.
I don’t think you quite understand the cost of living in Nebraska… Omaha is top 3 for employment, growth, places to raise a family, etc… mostly because the cost of living is so low.
A little upset by this, not becuase Im a NJ resident and this only hurts our already tenuous fiscal condition. But he lived in my town and I liked being able to claim that the richest man in NJ and I shared a ZIP code.
I was referring mostly to NJ, MI, IL., etc Nebraska didn’t even cross my mind. In fact it virtually never crosses my mind. Where is Nebraska anyway? Must be why COL is so low.
My wife spent 3 months in Vegas as part of her school externship. I flew out there and we spent new years together then had to drive half way back across the U.S… I got a speeding ticket in Texas going going 10 miles per over the limit. I was literally the only car heading East and the state trooper was on the other side of the highway (travelling West), cuts through the ditch to pull me over. Really?
Hilton and Revel are closed. Ballys is on the lower tier of the remaining open casinos…good place to play low limit, but no other reason to venture there. Borgata is still the top.
