I am just curious what everyone think about the best strategy for the last day before the exam. I have heard many people suggesting I take the day as a break and not study anything.
I plan to do that as well. Schweser teacher recommended it.
Get good nights sleep for sure. No studying after noon on Friday.
study until about 2-3pm. review notes/notecards - stuff thats hard to memorize, maybe to a couple questions.
relax that night.
I hate these people that say “you either know it or you don’t” by that point. BS. I have memorized a couple things during LUNCH the day of the exam that helped me get 2 questions right on level II.
never stop studying…
PistolPt , do you play tennis?
I really envy you people who get to sleep in your homes during the night before the exam. I got to spend all day driving and then spend the night in a hotel.
Gips can be useful almost until 130 PM on test day.
however, I think except for a few formulas, cheat sheet stuff, Friday needs to be relax, sleep, and just get yourself in game mode.
I will go to work, leave early and after a quick review of some notes… Pack it in
What PistolPt said. I had a similar experience on L2 last year as you.
Especially for the afternoon sessions. By knowing what was on the first, you know (have a greater probability of knowing) what is on the second half. Study those things that weren’t tested. For instance, ethics and GIPS 99% sure will be on PM, not AM. Probably also risk management of options/derivatives is a good bet for at least 1 vignette, so look over the collar, straddle, swap etc.
However, on Friday, I will probably take a couple hours off after dinner to wind down and make sure I get my requisite 8 hours.
I always have a hard time falling asleep the night before - obviously because I purposefully try to go to sleep early. When you want to sleep you can’t!
I might try some of that sleepy time tea - I assume that has no lingering effects into the next day?
In the past I considered taking a Gravol but opted not to just in case the sedatives would linger into the next day and affect my performance…
I say bullcrap to not studying.
Sleepy time tea is pretty weak. Don’t expect it to knock you out. Also, you might want to try any sleep aids a few nights before the exam…
Depending on where I sit with my mock scores I may try to fit in a round of 18 on Friday. The probability of getting out on the course is pretty low though. Fuck it, I’ll probably study until 11PM.
Finger cross, no ethics and GIPS on AM plz…
I took sleep aids for L2 the next day i felt like an idiot i got stuck on lifo fifo kinda stuff I was averaging 75% on all mocks but still failed the exam. if you are thinking of using a sleep aid then you should try it before the exam for sure
You’ve done this at least 2 times already. Do what has worked for you in the past. It will be different for everyone, but I always studied the day before. I also would go for a run the day before to help me sleep.
In order to help fall asleep, might I suggest the heaven in a bottle that is Nyquil? Also, presuming we (generally) haven’t had hardly any alcohol consumption over the past month at least, maybe also add an extra shot of whiskey, or whatever you desire. Won’t be immediate, as the alcohol will (is supposed to) give you a slight extra bit of energy once ingested, but give it an hour.
I really wouldn’t involve alcohol at any point prior to the exam - lol. No good can come out of it…
I know a guy who took an ambien before level 1 and woke up next day at 10am. Needless to say he sat again in December and passed. The most I will do as drink some chamomile tea to relax and be sure I am rested the next morning.
There will be plenty time for alcohol at approximately 4:01pm.
Don’t do anything unusual or different substances before or during exam day. You’re asking to be F’ed up
Work! Those bonds are not going to trade themselves!
Review the 2012 morning session of the CFA is my plan (already did it) also the formula sheet.
I plan to read GIPS and the Asset Manager stuff.
