The exam was so easy, I [....] (Formerly known as "How did the exam go?")

So if i follow you correctly … the pass rate for June 2012 was 38% … which compares to an average of 44% for June as per your calculations … Hence June 2012 should be classified as a difficult exam … with lower than average pass rate … Hence Dec 2012 should be an easier exam … Now December average has been 36.6% … hence the pass rate should be better than that

Do i get your logic right ?

My logic: the pattern is

DownUpDownUpDownUp…

Some years show sideways movements. But this is the general trend. What I mean is that if it goes substantially up this time, we might see a decrease in June.

Seems perfectly logical

Unfortunately most of us here are concerned with what the pass rate would be this time (Dec-12) … without caring much about the pass-rate that could be for June-2013

i guess this is especially true with the borderline cases … who are anxious about being Pass/Fail this time … and would be very happy to learn that they Passed … But even if they Fail (unfortunately) … they know that they have missed by a small margin … and are feeling much more confident about cracking it in June … So a few ppt lower pass-rate in June isnt really bothering

Instead of worrying about the MPS and the pass rate, concentrate on learning the material well enough so that you don’t have to worry about borderline passing. It’s really a better strategy in the long run, and you learn along the way.

Here is my take on the exam. The morning was slightly more difficult than the afternoon for me, but not by much. I thought the questions were straight-forward and the exam overall was written well. There were a few questions that made me ask, 'Why in the **** are they asking this?" but I was expecting a few of those.

I had time to go through my answers in each session and get a rough estimate of what I could have missed. I am fairly confident that I got no lower than a 70% in the morning and closer to an 80% in the afternoon, but I could be completely off as well.

Hope everyone did well and can move on to L2.

easy peasy

is the result actually coming out end of jan??

I agree with somme comments alread posted.

Very fair exam, TBPH if you don’t pass you definately didn’t show the effort, and intelligence and respect that the curriculum demands. Not a lot of tricks or suprises for anyone who has done some mocks. ( Obviously family, life, ilness etc can inspire against us)

Maybe I misread the whole thing, but I think it was the easiest test I had wrote as compared to all three Elans, BSAS live mock, 2012 CFAI 2012- Sample Exams and a a could of Schweser halfs… Definately the clearest and best written test.

I could have easily left in 1.5 hours on both but chose to stay longer and review. I wish they had made this exam time pressured as it would have played to my personal strengths as another poster said. I would be curious to know the pass rates compared to when you finished the exam. I imagine there is a sweet spot just after 2 hours that over performs. It is a huge advantage to finish the morning before the lock down.

Also in the realm of pure speculation, when you match an booklet # to the awnser sheet number, what do you think it accounts for? I imagine that they must randomize the MC awnsers and print our a few different versions so that any kind of bubble copying strategy would be fruitless.

:blah

I thought the morning was much easier than the afternoon. I couldn’t believe how many questions that they asked seemed to be over trivial/insignificant parts of the text, that when you would read it in he text you would think that is so insignificant that they would never ask a question on that. I thought them asking questions like that was a bit ridiculous. 3-4 of the ethics questions on the afternoon part of the exam were I thought ridiculous and virtually unfair.

When they say “pick the answer that is closest,” how many times was your answer say 10% off any of the choices? To get a “correct” answer I would assume that your calculated answer would have to be closer than 10% to the choices, correct?

Finished the morning in 2 hours, afternoon in 2.5 hours. Feel great about the morning, not so great about the afternoon but not terrible either. Went to bed at 11pm the night before after drinking 3 Sierra Nevada Celebration Ales, and I fell asleep soon after. I recommend that to anyone who had trouble falling asleep for the future

Yeah I mean don’t worry about the MPS just get ever question right and you’re all set.

This is my second attempt at Level I. I was in the 10th band for the June 2012 exam (6 topic areas betwen 50-70 and 4 above 70). To give you an idea of my study habbits, I didn’t start studying again until late October. I actually found this to be a relief as I never got burnt out in my review. I hit all of topic reviews and took the CFA Mock exam a week before the test.

Now to answer your question. I felt (and that term is relative given that this is my second attempt and I had a better understanding of the material) that this time around was easier. I felt the Ethics questions were more straight forward and an easier read. I felt the CFA mock was more challenging then the actual exam. When I walked out of the exam room in June I was felt I had a 50/50 shot of passing. I feel more confident now. Not sure if that helps at all. If you want more an elaborate response I can try to be more specific.

I’m sure your results will be great, otherwise, well, that would just be very embarrassing.

I’m quoting this, so i could check up on you later on. smiley

1st half was fine until Q70- mid80s(too specific and was like guessing between 2 choices). last 20 were alright, felt pretty confident about them.

2nd half’s first part was harder but I finished 2nd half in a calmer and slightly stressed environment.

Wow, this is the most arrogant post i’ve read all day. You sir, better hope to have passed so you don’t feel like a total tool.

Was wondering whether this fortune cookie wisdom gets any better once you cleared all three exams? And since we are extremly offtopic already: how come I find the chicks on the CFA books extremely ugly but at the same time feel like the Schweser girl is doable? Anyone else? Sorry for this…couldnt resist!

Instead of lurking level 1 forum you should probably concentrate on level III

I agree with robert and to 442, you can pretty much infer that different zones at the exam sites had the question order alterred hence, why it is most likely a different answer key exists.
