The fitness double standard

Most guys to look athletically fit/jacked have to

a) put in 10-15 hrs/week at gym

b) eat like starving tiger, consume 3x calories of girl

Girls

a) eat healthy

b) 10-20 min HIIT per day that’s it

what got me thinking was that chick on other thread saying ‘guy spends too much time on looks, at gym…etc.’

between gym, cooking, buying the food, eating, that’s a lot of time

#amirtite6?

of course KMD is an all star in this category as we know she knows how to … #doWork

I know chicks who spend 10 hours per week on cables alone working to get dat ass. I guess the male equivalent is 10 hours of curls so maybe it evens out.

Chicks with serious bodies have to work for it, especially after they hit the ‘zero effort’ wall around 28 - 30. Again same as dudes.

impressive - thats dedication

wifey material right thurrr

when I was in the military, I worked closely and was personal friends with the 90kg champ.

He worked out for one hour a day. No steroids. And he was massive.

So no, you didn’t not have to spend your whole life in a gym.

(And for the record, he could run a 5k, too.).

genes are a huge part too

This. Most pro athletes just have high testosterone levels so they are basically naturally on roids. The whole level playing field thing only applies if you already have a natural chemical advantage I guess. My family has it to a degree, my cousin was pro-division body builder and my older and younger brothers were both full scholarship football players and it’s crazy how quickly they’ll snap into shape within a week or two of working out.

I… what the hell is going on in the first post? Did you just completely make up a bunch of stuff?

OP doesn’t seem to actually know much science.

If you spend 15 hours per week (more than 2 hours per day) working out you would sabotage your mechanism of producing any anabolic hormones. Unless you are among the top 0.0000001 percent with unusually high Testosterone or take Steroids (assuming you have a perfect recovery) working out that much is stupid and has the opposite effect. Even 10 hours of “working out” is too much.

Also being and athlete and training does not count as working out so don’t cite how much athletes workout per week.

I was working out maybe 50min to an hour in the gym 3-4 days of the week and was reasonably strong/fit. So no you don’t need to be a gym rat unless you want to look like the Rock. Plus most of it is your diet and you don’t have to starve yourself either.

15 hrs/week is fine (and doable) if all you’re doing is lifting, eating, and sleeping throughout the day. Pro bodybuilders like Jay Cutler work out multiple times a day, and when they’re not in the gym they’re either eating, napping, or taking massive dumps. For most guys with jobs/school this is almost impossible naturally. All that stress (and time-constraints) or regular life hinders recovery.

Not to mention that Jay Cutler sleeps about 8-9 hours every day, takes steroids like candy and basically designed his whole life around this concept.

Fell off a cliff after getting married…

10 hours is nothing, brah

huh? It’s athletic activity - it all counts
