The more I study the less I seem to know....!!!

I was doing so well, or so I thought, but the closer the day gets the less I seem to know. Maybe it’s just nerves, although I don’t actually feel all that nervous. Got between 80-85% on my recent Q-bank and practice exam runs, but this morning I bombed the CFA sample exam with a mere 73% (I know that this is still ok, but it seems like a big step back!). I did much better on the mock exams… Plus, I feel really motivated one minute and totally unmotivated the next, thinking that if I don’t know it now… I am going to be sooooo glad when it’s over! Oh, and my inlaws have decided to come by on Thursday for dinner - GREAT!

Don’t worry too much about this. Most people report that feeling shortly before the exam, and it happens at every level. If you’re feeling that the more you study, the less you seem to know, there’s a good chance that you’ve got the essentials under your belt, and are just freaking out over small details. Remember that you can still get at least 30% wrong and still have a great chance of passing. If you figure that 1/3 of your guesses will be right, it suggests that it is possible to pass only by answering only 55% of the problems, provided that you answer those problems correctly. That should help put things in perspective. In your last week, put the time in to study, but don’t cram. Your biggest challenge may be to keep yourself in the mental zen zone so that you don’t freak out and do yourself damage that way.

You’re doing very well. Listen to Bchad.

Don’t stress out. Every candidate goes through this process of self doubt right before the exam. You will be amazed how much material actually comes back to you right on exam day itself! Get your inlaws to proctor a mock exam for you
