The most selective program you’ve heard about.

No. I’m and old MoFo. 31 now, married, kids, it’s just like in the real world I have to observe a flawless behavior, so I come here to write random thoughts.

I would like to meet this Kevin Langdon person before he dies (who knows when people will die suddenly . . . ?). I would like to talk to him about some key issues regarding his research, motives, any regrets of his, and his perspective of the benefits gained to society because of his work. I sent him an email to see if he could meet in CA sometime next year. The stuff seems really interesting to me.

Most selective program? A Nunnery, if you’re a guy.

You got me. I am a full fledged liberal arts major: English + history majors, and minor in art. I go to a small liberal arts school. : (

None of these high IQ orgs are “selective”, they’re just exclusive. Just because not many people CAN join, doesn’t mean many people want to join. By that definition CFA Society is extremely exclusive because only 100,000 CFAs/6.5B people are members.

I think L’Ecole Polytechnique in France is very selective (about 6-7%) . And it’s not based on bogus papers/essays and other subjective junk like that.

You really can’t compare raw data between all these organizations unless they have the same demographic of people applying and the same cost for applying. Even if it’s comparing just undergraduate institutions, the Harvard, West Point, and Arizona State applicants are going to be very different. You can look at the CFA pass rates and say that it’s about as competitive as some random tier 2 university, but we know that not the case because most candidates have strong educational backgrounds as is. I’d actually find the numbers quite amusing if the CFA exams were required for the general populace to take.
