The Redundance of Consent from Third Parties Offering Additional Compensation?

I am going over the ethics topic area: standard four, duties to employers. I realize additional compensation requires written consent/permission from both the employer and the third party. However, consent from the latter makes little sense to me. Isn’t his engagement in the deal already consent? Does this just mean the third party needs to have an explicit contract rather than a dynamic or less formal arrangement?

Thanks for your help/input.

It’s probably there to ensure that the third party acknowledges the conflict of interest.
