I really enjoyed watching Real rip apart an impotent Bayern last night. Bale is a machine, so much power and pace.

Other than Robben, no Bayern player even remotely looked like they were going to create any chances.

comment from the wife during the game ‘Ronaldo looks plastic, he’s like an ugly ken doll’

Advice to Pep. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”

Ronaldo’s ego does get in the way sometimes but love him or hate him, he’s one of the best players in the world for a reason. Ancelotti’s Madrid are a thrill to watch on the counter attack. Hope they win it this year. Congrats to them.

The early 2 goals left them really vulnerable. With the speed of Bale, Ronaldo, Di Maria versus backpedalling of Dante and Boateng, they had no chance the rest of the way. Many times Neuer had to come out and boot a clearance otherwise it could have been more. Hats off to Real and their quest to La Decima. Can’t stop Robben and Ribery is a dick but otherwise Bayern are a class act and they’ll bounce back.

Hope Chelsea loses today and it will be an awesome final.

+1 isuldurr to the EPL winner coming down to the wire on the last day.

So, a Madrid derby for the final. I didn’t realise that there’s never been a city derby in a CL or European Cup final before.

Do you reckon this Atletico side will get picked apart over the summer? A lot of pundits seem to think Diego Costa and Koke are definitely going to leave.

^

They own every player apart from Courtois i believe,

Saul Niguez, Oliver Torres, Leo Baptista and Asenjo are on loan. They will return next season. They will have additional money from winning the La Liga + their new shirt sponsors. There are rumors that a no of investors are looking at them and they make a lot of financial sense given the fanbase etc.

You are right that at the moment they are in shambles at the boardroom level but if they keep Simeone they can go places.

Atletico will likely be disbanded, this team is full of shady financial shenanigans, and dont own a number of their players.

Fuck, just saw the result and saw the highlights. Diego Simeone 1-0 Jose Mourinho. Love it, Love Diego the mean, aggressive, passionate cunt that he is.

Love the backdrop of this Atletico Madrid story too. It’s like Borussia Dortmund- Bayern Munich except it has so much more to it. Borussia came back from bankruptcy to smash Bayern for 2 consecutive years. Bayern puffed out their chest, spent a bomb, bought some of the priciest players in the world and then got the best manager in the world and left Borussia in their wake. Good luck to Borussia trying to catch them now.

But Atletico? They spent close to 100 years in their illustrious cousins shadow. The cousin that could buy the worlds best players, had the most iconic stadium, had the brand name and always solved their problems by buying another set of galacticos. The cousin that never let them forget it and rubbed their faces in the dirt. There was an advertisement a few years back where a young boy asked his dad with a long suffering face ‘Daddy, Why are we Atletico fans’?

The Real Madrid fans held a huge banner last year. It said ‘Give us a team worthy of a city derby’. Well you’ve got one now and the best part is if Atletico beat them in Lisbon Real have nowhere to hide. They have the best player in the world playing left wing, the most expensive playing right and a 50 million French international leading the line. They would have lost to a team assembled at a price lesser than one of their players and one that is turning history on it’s head.

It’s been a 100 years coming, Whatever happens in Lisbon, Real will probably school Atletico but the footballing world will surely raise a toast to Diego Simeone and his team of misfits refusing to go away without the mother of all fights.

100 years of redemption, Make it happen Diego.

bit of a rant, but it frustrates me is when you get pundits like souness who spend their whole post game analysis banging on about how surprised they are about the quality of a team and players as they clearly haven’t watched them at all during the season. it should be no surprise

Souness doesn’t really give a crap though. He watches the big games, shares his opinion when he can and even when he can’t (because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about) and then takes his paycheque.

I quite like some of his post game analysis (the 2010 world cup was good with him), but sometimes he just comes across as someone who desperatley wants to be a part of a conversation he knows nothing about because he doesn’t watch games if it’s not a big team playing.

Gary Neville and Jamie Carra are killing it. ‘No kid wants to grow up to be a Gary Neville’

Yeah G Nev and Carra have been great on sky sports!

Looking forward to next season already with them. It’s a bit boring now it’s a three horse race. The bottom of the table is more interesting than the top of the table at the moment.

I agree that Carra and the Neviller are both great pundits. Hopefully more channels go down the route of hiring recently retired footballers who are clearly passionate understand the modern game.

I don’t think Neville’s as good a co-commentator as he is a pundit though.

That screech he made when Torres scored against Barca in the Champions League a couple of seasons ago comes to mind…cringe!

Sigh, Everton couldn’t help out the Reds today but still six points left to fight for. Good luck Liverpool

Napoli just won the coppa italia.

Def a team to watch out for next year in Europe.

The excitement has kind of gone from the English league now, City are pretty sure to win and the relegation battle is pretty much over as well.

A different story for La Liga though! that final day match between Atletico and Barca next sunday is going to be massive

Napoli is going to be great. If Valencia gets their ownership sorted out, another possible force under Pizzi.

If you ever wanted proof of favoritism, yesterday was it.

5 min? Where the fk did that come from?

Badly hope Real get schooled in the final and loose the league too, Unfortunately football knows no justice.

Hope Hazard leaves, way too talented to waste it playing for Mourinho.

Yeah I wouldn’t bet against them now. Suarez having to be consoled and taken off the pitch by team mates last night just shows that yet again the guy has very poor character - a sore loser, a biter and a racist.

Gerrard must’ve felt even worse about it but he didn’t shed a tear (although he was clearly dissappointed) and I am dissappointed for him. It’s a 38 game season though and the best team always wins - this year that is clearly Man City.

Sorry, not buying that… He’s a bit loose but to go from a slum in Uruguay to Europe without knowing a word of the language shows immense character.

The racist tag is very debatable, The Uruguayan president came out in support for him mentionng that the term ‘Negrito’ is not a racial slur in Uruguay. Not a real fan of the the FA investigation considering they’re inconsistent and incompetent at best. Terry gets a 3 match ban after being caught on T.V but Suarez gets a 7 match ban when the evidence was flimsy at best with David Cameron feeling the need to come out and proclaim that justice was done.

Nah, i think the South Americans have treated ‘blacks’ far better than their anglo cousins and if the president of a country feels the need to defend him then perhaps there is more than meets the eye. He can’t control himself though, flies of the handle very quickly. He’s tempered himself and now measures upto C.Ronaldo this season.

Let’s see if he can maintain this form.
