Figo’s manifesto for FIFA presidency is pretty interesting:

-Increasing world cup from 32 to either 40 or 48 teams with the latter meaning that it would be 2 mini tournaments with the winners competing for the cup.

-Going back to the old offside rule where you’re offside whether you’re interferring or not.

-Sin bin for unsporting behaviour

-Stopping triple punishment for foul in the box.

-More technology

The sin bin and technology are the only ones I think makes any sense. The baffling thing about the WC expansion proposal is that they’d fill the extra spaces with non european nations! Fair enough it broadens the appeal worldwide but do we really need more diddy african/south american/asian teams in the WC?

I like changes to rules for in the box fouls, a pk is just too much. I think the WC proposal is just to get more votes…though I would prefer cutting down on European teams, as a lot of them are pretty avg.

Shaktar was really weak, performed like flagstaffs and got a red card really early. Hope Bayern shot their wad, next Saturday Bremen hosts them. I don´t want to see 7 Bayern goals again…

I only saw from extra time but Chelsea were terrible and PSG showed a lot more grit than they have previously. They’ve benefitted immensley from having a serious title race in Ligue 1 this year.

Looks like all English sides out at the last 16, the English press seem surprised but the Premier League quality has dropped massively in the last 2 seasons whereas the Spanish, German and even French leagues have all improved so it’s not exactly a shock.

Spanish league is going to be great next year with Atleti and Valencia getting new cash, German league a bit behind them with Leverkusen, Dortmund, and Wolfsburg doing well. Watch out for Porto this year, probably the best Porto side in a long time.
