The Vasectomy Support Thread

^ You might change your mind after you pop a few.

I got one in December. We switched to an hsa for 14, my wife scheduled the shit, and I did it.

Not it too bad, plus it have me an excuse to abuse hydrocodones for a few days.

turd summarized it well.

Had mine several years ago. My buddy (a urologist) did it for free. But he said the price was I was only getting a local anesthetic at the incision point. Not too bad. The worst part was the coterization. You know the smell of burning skin? It become even worse when you know it is your nut sack that is on fire.

OK, reading this thread has convinced me that a vasectomy is not in the cards for me. Call me a wimp but the thought of having my balls on fire makes me slightly petrified (and not in that way).

For those who have done it–what’s the recovery time? Can you go back to work the next day? (My job is completely sedentary, FYI.). Are there any restrictions on lifting things? (Namely, a child.).

Im trying to decide if I should pull the trigger now or wait until after tax season.

Alrighty everyone. I made the appointment for the afternoon of July 3.

The doc says that I can make a pre-appointment to get a prescription for Valium. Who here (who has had the sack whacked) can tell me whether this is a good idea, or simply unnecessary?

No advice here as my balls are cringing me into paralysis with these stories.

Best of luck to you Greenie.

I’ve toyed with the idea. My kids are 11 and 7 and while I’m only 32, I just can’t see myself wanting to start over again. As of right now, I’ll be an empty nester by my mid 40’s. I can’t risk throwing that away. Currently my wife uses Mirena, which is an IUD that lasts for around 5 years. She’s had no issues at all, so I haven’t gotten snipped yet. I’m trying to get her to come around to my 1 abortion policy. I’ll trade a vasectomy for 1 abortion. She’s not really on board.

What scares me is that all of you who’ve had multiple kids seem to agree on “never again”.

can you elaborate?

For me it’s mostly about money and time. I love my kids, I’m a much better person with them than I ever would have been without them, and they make me happy each and every day. But a third child would break me financially and further break me from a time standpoint. I work 50 or so hours a week, and spend an additional 20 to 30 hours a week watching various baseball/basketball/football games and practices, giving terrible golf lessons, trying to not get beaten by a 7 year old in Mario Kart, etc. Adding an infant to that mess would be the end of me. I’d grab a rope and a stool, carve “Brooks Was Here” into the wall and end it.

^That pretty much sums it up. Money and time. You’ll find out pretty soon exactly how much of both they’ll drain from you. It’s the best possible drain there is, and worth every penny. But they’re still expensive and time-consuming.

Mine are almost 3 and almost 1. I was surprised by how difficult it was to take care of the second. He’s a good baby, but two is certainly more than twice as hard.

Plus, when the boy graduates, I’ll be in my fifties. If I had another one in a few years, I’d be pushing 60 while attending high-school sports events. No thank you. I want to have enough time to enjoy my empty nest years.

dam july 3rd, i bet u gonna remember it every independence day from here on out LOL

p.s. ill take a shot in your honor greenman on july 3rd!!

That’s kind of apt really when you think about it, as greenie will be free to boink away without the fear of producing more little tax deductions.

I’m just surprised that so many people are still leaving it in… Don’t you watch porn? Semen is for faces not vaginas

The blood clot will take months to resolve. I had what you had, except times 100. Though the procedure was a piece of cake (even drove myself to and fro). My, uh, aftermath was a a fucking disaster. Though I had no external bleeding from my incisions (not even stitched)but some fucking part of my groin decided to bleed like a stuck pig into my scrotum and hips. About 24 hours after my vasectomy, my scrotum had swelled to the size of a NFL football and was hard, full of blood and beginning to clot. Also, the bleeding spread into the top of my thighs and from hip bone to hip bone… and to my dick. It looked like I was in a car wreck. I went back to the Doc with my wife in tow, and the Doc declares that the last time he saw something like this, the guy had leukemia. So, my wife freaks the fuck out now thinking I have cancer. Luckily, I didn’t. But the pain and swelling persisted for a long time. It took months to get to the point were my balls “only” the size and consistency of 2 large raw Idaho baked potatoes. After about 8 months, my sack was finally the normal, wrinkly, saggy scrotum I grew up with.

Oh, and you, like me will probably have the awesome experience of your first few ejaculations being brown. Good luck!

p.s.— I would do it again in an instant!

Jesus Christ! I’ve been thinking about the ol’ snip and burn for a few weeks, but not now! Just reading that made them retract up into somewhere near my liver.
