So this “Ponzi scheme” is the new word of the day? Wall St isn’t a Ponzi scheme; it’s a place where much of the world’s wealth is capitalized and risk is transferred at least theoretically from people who don’t want it to people who do. Sometimes, that process doesn’t work well and we have days like today. It’s the end of LEH and MER, but not the end of the world or indeed the end of much of what happens on Wall St.
