The world better prepare for when I'm a billionaire! Lotto at $1b! What would you do!

A real American would get this as is.

Didn’t think this was that unobtainable.

interesting choice of cities. why Lima and Paris?

Well, the type that double up on a guy like me.

its interesting to read what people would do. but there are actual people who have these kinds of problems already. think buffett or gates or jack ma. i guess the idea is once you buy all the toys you want, how would you deal with the excess. do you give it to close family only, friends? people of same color? fellow countrymen? or do you give to the people who are most deserving and can work for you? or perhaps the poorest amongst us? or the hottest amongst us?

think buffett, who funds a corporation that is trading at a discount.

gates, who handles his money passively, but focuses on fixing problems that improve human health for those poorest amongst us with no chance of profit.

elon musk that focuses on pushing mankind on renewable energy or expanding are capabilities to space all while losing money in the process.

jack ma who has nationalistic tendencies and focuses on increasing productivity for his country by allowing their manufacturers to get into contact with American consumers.

anyways of all these people i like jack ma or elon musks philosophy more.

Maybe he is a super fan of the TV show, Glee.

I’d come up with new and strange ways to spend it all.

Nerdy, would you give your girl a consolation prize or straight up ghost her?

tahts a good question. in all honesty, i think id keep her. now if she was barren, i’ll give her a consolation prize as that would conflict with my goals in life. no level of guilt will keep me from that.

also i think if i was a single guy, i would travel around the world. air bnb at every fancy condo. my mission would be to beat ric flair. as a married dude or couple, id establish roots and pick a place. id want to live in a high rise building with commercial stuff like a mall/club at the bottom floor in the city center.

lima yummmm

I think that the problem of just spending money on “toys” and gadgets and houses is that it doesn’t make you happy in the long run. Humans get used to anything. They even have a fancy word for it: hedonistic adaptation.

In order to be truly happy, one has to have some sort of a deeper meaning/pursuit in their life. Many people seem to think that people like Bilzerian are living the best life imaginable. If you’re chilling on a yacht 24/7 with few babes (who might or might not be there for the $), you’ll end living a miserable life.

As I said to bchad several times when we debated this exact topic (does money lead to happiness), I always quoted a line from the Everclear song I Will Buy You a New Life: “I hate all those people who love to tell you money is the root of all that kills. They have never been poor. They have never had the joy of a welfare Christmas.”

Point being, having money > not having money. Living on a yacht with supermodels is always going to be better than worrying about paying the electric bill. Does it bring other problems? Sure. But money solves more issues than it creates provided you’re not an idiot.

If you don’t believe me, read bchad’s suicide note. He led a passionate life. One that I’d say had purpose and meaning. But, he couldn’t escape work/financial troubles. So, I’d take a ton of money without purpose than no money with purpose. Maybe that’s just me though.

Same, money with no purpose all day long.

I’ve read a lot about philosophy and ethics lately, particularly Stoicism, Marcus Arlieus’s Meditations, and after much thought, I’ve decided that as long as my family is taken care of, I don’t have really have to apologize to anyone for living and extremely gluttonous lifestyle if I so choose.

I think it’s 1000x easier to develop a “purpose” if you have substantial amounts of money, compared to very little money. If you’re living paycheck to paycheck, you’re just concerned about putting food on the table. That occupies time, but I wouldn’t say that fulfills some greater meaning. However, if you’re a billionaire, you can do whatever you want - go donate money, fight cancer, whatever. In between, you still have more freedom to choose your hobbies, careers, or other pursuits, compared to if you were poor.

Having money doesn’t give you a purpose, but it certainly does not take away from having a purpose, and probably even adds to it.

lol the fact that people need deeper meaning is hilarious to me. the whole point of life is to focus on ones own happiness. and happiness could be deeper meaning or it could be just getting deeper with models.

Holy sh i t. You’re a Libertarian. Welcome.

What I’m saying is that if you’re goal in life is to earn more and more money in order to buy more and more stuff, you’ll end up as an unhappy person. I’m not advocating that money is the root of all evil or that wanting more money would be bad per se. Obviously money helps to attain certain things in life and solves many problems and issues. But if having your guiding principle in life is to have more and more things, you’ll never have enough. You’ll end up chasing a pipe dream your whole life and you’ll never be satisfied, nor truly happy.

yep i definitely identify as a libertarian! when times are good.

when times are bad, i opt for emergency executive powers and pro order 66. then i become a socialist!

I would buy some toys, fund some charitable causes I believe in, and maybe fund an immigrant caravan just so some people on this board keep vomiting all over themselves. More than anything though, having that kinda coin, might make your job way more enjoyable. After all, you’d be doing it only cause you enjoy it, and you can walk away whenever without any stress about clients, colleagues, kids schools or mortgages. That would be unbelievably liberating.

One winner in South Carolina. ACE?

bottles on ace! im ready to get krunked. anyways had this discussion with the krew on how theyd allocate the money.

so the average wanted to this: 100m for me to manage. 100m to real estate with prop manager, 50m in a swiss bank. they want to spend 30m (10m on a nice home, 10m to give away, give away 5m homeless/animal shelter, 5m on nice things cars etc etc).

another wanted to give me everything to invest, and whatever it earns, he would spend.

i dont think anyone is asking for apologies. I think the comments above just meant that in the long run it’s just not the way to enjoy life to the fullest
