Hi m preparing for L1 Dec’08 n have started wid prep.I have finance & accounting backgrnd at grad level.I have finished Quant 1st considering it will form basis of calculations in other sub. Plz advise which subjects sud b spent more time on? Also which subjects are comparatively difficult n time consuming?
Hi, You are absolutely right to begin with Quant!. After Quant, you should proceed to Portfolio Management and then Corporate Finance. Subsequently it is good to tackle all of FSA, which will be time consuming. There is a schedule of training offerred by Finance-Grid CFA Training Providers, which is a tested method and schedule for study. Take a look at it if you like. Also continue to study Ethics throughout, since it is a topic that cannot be learnt quickly. Derivatives is tough for many students. Pay a lot of attention to Fixed Income, FSA and Ethics. dude, I am writing the December exam as well. And from the info I have gathered here and from my own studies, it seems that FSA is the most time consuming area. That book is one fat bi.tch. It is also the one that carries most weight on the exam. Other than that, the most difficult depends on the person. Some people consider Derivatives a problematic area, others think Bonds is tough. Depends on you. I am sure I don’t need to tell you about the details, since you are a Finance grad and are already familiar with these topics.
Thanks a ton for the advise guys. sabdezar… more out of chance thn delibration, i have got he same sequence going. I have finished PM as well n have started CF. Will look into schedule of training offerred by Finance-Grid CFA Training Providers n come back if have ny questions. thanks litteraround for suggestions.
Quant then FSA. After that it doesnt really matter, dont bother reading ethics til the very end. I thought Economics was really easy in Schwesher and the practice tests but I got killed on the test.
