[1] Exercise + Studying If you have access to a stationary bike, you might want to try studying while stationary biking. I prefer the ones where your legs are in front of you, instead of the ones that resemble real bikes, since you can sit in a more relaxed posture and your hands are free. You can leverage your time by studying and get in awesome shape (I burned 2000 calories in 3 hours today, woo hoo!). Though this might not be the best for reading and studying examples in depth, it is especially good for reviewing/skimming material or doing the inevitable/mind-numbing memorization (like the details of the all current vs. temporal or assorted formulas), since: - You don’t need full concentration for this type of studying, in fact, full concentration may work against you in memorization (at least for me) and my mind wanders since it is boring to memorize. I find that exercising and studying gives me the optimal amount of focuses for these skimming/reviewing/memorizing tasks (not working problems). - Your mind is distracted from the physical discomfort of working out, this is how I can withstand 3 hours at 135 heartbeats per minute and get in the best shape of my life [2] Exam Solutions Another thing that I did was to rip out the answers to the schweser practice tests, this way, i don’t have to go back and forth. The questions in the back of the practice exams have denser formatting too compared to the answers you can download from the Schweser website, so you save a bit of time by not constantly having to flip through pages. Any one have other ideas for efficiency?
I am more interested in knowing how you able to keep your focus on studies. You seems perpetual student - offcourse positve in case of earning certifications. Secondly, how many hours you study or plan to study till exam day. I am not confident about CFA L2 but probably take CAIA L1 in september and FRM in November. I also have to take choose between CMA or CA - considering I am intending to get immigration of canada in couple of years - currently in asia. Sorry for off track discussion…
haha, well, i only have CFA Level 2 and 3 left (completely done with CAIA) i will try to put in as many hours as i can each day, only limited by attention and motivation - so far i am feeling very good so it depends on the weather i guess i’m relaxed since it actually doesn’t really matter too much if i fail (though i would hate to fail) since i don’t think any interviewers really care about my CFA exam progress compared to a quant phd + programming experience. i am doing the CFA program (just like the CAIA) for my own knowledge.
