To those of you appearing for level I for the first time in mumbai.
The centre, thakur college (or has it changed) is a good one. the approach road is patchy in parts. reach early. there is little traffic on saturday morning. It will be less crowded as compared to June when candidtaes from all three levels make it one big mela. Parking can be an issue if you reach late. there are roadside vendors and a couple of fast food joints but none IMO are healthy food options. i always carry water and lunch from home. mostly a healthy salad. don’t want to be sleepy in the PM session.
The centre is clean. the classrooms are clean and airconditioned though not too cold. attempting a 6 hour exam for the first time is taxing physically and mentally. be prepared. eat healthy.
there is a separate room for all your belongings which kept locked and guarded during the exam. water is provided during exam in the hallway. the proctors are not too fussy. They wear fluoroscent jackets :D.
T hey take the CFA institute rules and regulations very seriously. If you have a chalta hai way of looking at things, it simply willl NOT work. They will VOID your results if you violate any rule. There is no scope for " I didn’t mean to" or “its not such a big deal if i darkened only 1 oval” . It is a big deal. The gora is fanatical about rules. complete obedience is the only way.
your eraser covers, sharpener covers and calculator covers are NOT allowed. DO NOT write on your exam ticket. Carry only approved calculators. Proctors check your calculators during the exam. thye also check the exam ticket and your passport randomly during exam time.
Do not copy or give the appearance of doing so. Proctors should be treated with utmost respect and their instructions complied with. Put down your pens when asked to do so. one oval darkening act could void your exams To open your question paper use pencil. They will ask you to surrender your mobile before the start of the exam.
There will be a clock in the room. I prefer to carry my own watch. They do announce the remaining time at hourly intervals and the frequency increases in the last hour.
Post morning session,do not fuss over the answers because it is a waste of time and you do not know the correct answer. you never will anyway.
good luck.
