Please show me the post where anyone said “Megatron and Adrian Peterson would dominate the world of soccer”. The closest post I can find is where I said something along the lines of can you imagine if Megatron and AP had been raised playing soccer. The only place anyone other than you mentioned dominance was when I said that if the US, the African American population in particular, had focused on soccer for the last 30 years instead of football, the US would dominate the world of soccer and I stand by that. No other country in the world can match the US’s combination of population and resources and that is what translates into success in world athletics. Would the 1 or 2 best soccer players in the world be American, maybe, maybe not. Would the US have the best chance of putting 11 players on the field with freakish combinations of speed, size and skill? Most certainly, because they have the most potential talent to draw from and the resources to develop them…

Just imagine how dominant Team USA would be if the RB’s, WR’s, and CB’s in the NFL decided to play soccer instead.
Right here. And I will repeat, if these guys grew up playing soccer, the US would not be dominant.
del
^ That’s hundreds of some the strongest, fastest, most athletic guys in the world, not 2 guys.
sigh.

man,are you actually reading anything?
the fact that you keep saying ‘african-american’ says you’re not really getting it.
i posted two videos on how a 6’4 african 120+ kgs with speed, power and strength would get dominated by a 5’11 white guy simply because the white guy’s ‘intangible’s’ were far far superior.
he would also get dominated by a 5’7 slightly plump spanish dude called xavi.why? because absoultey no one in the world can control space like xavi.
and you don’t need to be genetically gifted to do that…so again it doesn’t matter if you produce 9 feet africans who can run 100 m in 5 seconds.
would they really ‘get’ the game? if they’re thinking along your lines,i doubt it…
This plump spanish dude would wipe the floor with the “strongest fastest most athletic guys in the world”.
Comment below is directed to both of the personalities:
The problem with the above argument is Higg is arguing a hypothetical and you’re stuck in your own head. He understands as it stands your Xavi would beat Megatron, but he’s suggesting if Megatron was raised to kick a ball he might be a good opponent (or one of the other pro NBA/NFL players). He even said that an American might not be in the top 2 (hacksaw), which is tough for Americans to admit. I think you’re almost too focused on the finesse aspect of football and not on what he’s trying to say.
I’ve read his argument over and over again, and it’s hardly novel, the american soccer fanscape has been arguing incessantly about this since 2006. So spare me the lectures about being stuck in your head.
Even if Megatron were raised in France or Germany and grew up playing soccer, nothing says that he would be a superstar at the game.
Could some NFL players be great soccer players? Certainly, and I’ve named a few, but even if you take the entire group of NFL players and raise them in a soccer environment, it’s not obvious at all that they would dominate the world of soccer.
That is a totally different argument from what roberto is saying, “US could develop a great soccer team due to its resources”, which I agree with. However, I suspect that future American superstars would resemble Cesc or Busquets or Gundogan rather than Randy Moss.
I think you’re the one who isn’t reading.
It isn’t like the US sports that we breed athletes to excel in don’t require other types of mental prowess.
We breed the mental facets just as much as the physical. We just focus on other intangibles - like court vision, route timing, play calling.
^ I can’t watch youtube. I single out African Americans because the predominance of pro athletes from the US are African Americans. Is every tall, fast, strong black guy good at sports? No. If you were going to go to war and the winner was going to be based on having the most and best mathematicians, you’d probably want to be calling every Asian and Russian you know, wouldn’t you? Does that mean some Latino can’t dominate some dude from Moscow in the Math Olympics? Of course not. Does that mean a billion plus Chinese people are math prodigies? Of course not.
If you don’t believe that the US athletic machine churns out a dominating number of athletes, due to population and resources, please explain the 1,063 Olympic gold medals the US has won compared to 473 won by the Soviets, 245 won by the Brits, 244 won by the Germans, etc. We’ve doubled up the next 3 nations combined and you don’t think we could produce the athletes to dominate soccer if we really wanted to?
fk…do me a favor.
read the stuff, watch the videos then come back.
And now you’re quickly changing your argument. Your original argument was “if NFL players played soccer, they’d dominate” or “Megatron would be great if he grew up playing soccer”, now you’re changing to “US could produce great soccer players due to resources”. Which is true, but a totally different argument.
How would Usain Bolt do as a WR?
Funny, Usain bolt grew up playing cricket. He wasn’t very good at it. They noted he ran really fast during his runup to the crease…

How would Usain Bolt do as a WR?
he could play any sport in the whole wide world.
he’s tall,fast and black.
hell he could probably play kabaddi too…
* if he was taught from birth of course

My very first post on the topic:
“The soccer lovers of the world should thank God everyday that American football exists. Just imagine how dominant Team USA would be if the RB’s, WR’s, and CB’s in the NFL decided to play soccer instead. Landon Donovan probably wouldn’t even make the B team.”
With the exception of NBA players, who I think are generally too tall for soccer, the NFL’s players, WR’s, RB’s, and CB’s specifically, represent the best that the American athletics machine produces. The posses unmatched combinations of size, speed, power, and quickness. If you give me two populations of athletes and one is generally taller, faster, stronger, and quicker than the other, I posited that that population would produce a dominant soccer team and I stand by that. You can post all the anecdotal video clips you want, it does change the fact that the US produces the largest pool of freakish athletes in the world and that pool is currently best represented by the NFL.
So was he hacksawed?
No, he got a ring put on.
They pulled down his Redskin and put some plastic ring around it. It falls off in a few days, kinda like the umbilical cord. No actual “cutting” goes on.
Aren’t you two the ones who want sports out of US colleges? It’s all starting to make sense now. You think the NFL is going to go under pretty soon due to the head injury lawsuits and you want colleges out of the athletics machine before the black youths of American turn their attention toward soccer. Very clever.
