I don’t share your experience, but I would try to find out for sure if they show up or not. I don’t know how much background checks cost, but might be worth it to have a background check done yourself to see what turns up. I’m pretty sure there are only a handful of companies that most employers use.
Don’t worry about it. Anything before you’re 18 is sealed and can’t be found. Well, not by those guys anyway. I wouldn’t go to 4chan and challenge them to find it. For your purposes you’re fine.
^ that may be difficult. How old are you now?
Would be interested to know what you did too get arrested.
Those charges really aren’t a big deal. One DUI is a none issue. I have one and HR didn’t care. Don’t get another though…that’s a different issue.
Go into sales. Those priors should actually help you.
Hmm. Well, I think the RIA channel is the way of the future and growing, so maybe you won’t have to apply to new jobs, especially at the wirehouses… why are you thinking of leaving your current firm?
trespassing, I don’t think they’d care.
DUI? happened only once, and they changed the status of it. Not the worst thing ever…
I thought it had something to do with manslaughter.
It’s probably not that bad. They would be more stringent if you had some permanent mark on your U4 that is work related.
Those charges aren’t as bad as using the CFA as a noun. I hear you get blackballed from the industry for that.
Those charges are not bad, you should be fine
well somebody needed to cover his ass pretty badly…
IIRC, he was saying that he was going to take a FINRA job, and he was going to be subject to fingerprints and a background check. He was wondering if minor stuff like that was going to show up. I think he said it was when he was a minor.
I think there is a lesson to be learned here about the significance of the ethics trend. Let’s be honest, there are tons of charterholders out there making money in borderline illegal activities such as HFT under the complete cover of large institutions. On the other hand there a people like the OP who had a minor fuck-up (which is only human) who must fear for their future. Who’s really out of bounds ethics-wise and less to be trusted, the guy who collects a million dollar paycheck for legally ripping off the market or the guy who did something stupid at an age where one cannot really be held accountable?
^If you’re old enough to drink and drive, you’re old enough to be held accountable.
