Advise my friends: For a CFA level II Candidate , which career option can lead to better chances of climping the Corp ladder—either towards CFO, VP Finance, CEO etc?? Corporate Finance Analyst vs. Treasury Analyst? Thanks Dobs
in order to climb the corp ladder it would be best to have well rounded experience, hence, experience in both positions not just one or the other…
probably would want to have a solid accounting foundation as well…
well if it’s CEO, you definitely want experience in the part of the firm that makes the most money and has best growth potential. That’s likely where they’ll grab their CEO candidates if done internally.
If you want to be CEO you have to really know the business in which the company operates. For example, I work for a global leader in the med-tech sector and our CEO started his career as an engineer. He developed good management and leadership skills, and my chance, luck, or being the right place at the right time he found himself in a position to become the CEO. He took a very different path to become a CEO than one might take to become a CFO. They are two very different positions…
