Guess, huh?
And you belittle others’ analyses.
Sigh.
“an educated citizenry is a vital requisite for our survival as a free people.” - Thomas Jefferson
Equipping voters with more, not less, information as they pick those who run for the highest offices in our land seems, to me, a reasonable requirement for anyone aspiring to those positions. - Mark Sanford, Former Republican Governor.
Trump probably paid 0 taxes but there must be a reason for it. Let’s find out as a whole nation. United.
Yeah, good luck explaining the likes of a 1031 exchange and depreciation schedules to the public. Or that losses are able to be deducted verse income in the world of real estate development, which has one of the most friendly tax schemes. If the goal is to get elected, I can’t imagine a real estate developer sharing their tax returns would help their cause, especially with the low information voter. Thinking if it were me, I would have to pass on the that recent tradition. Trump’s people have to be taking advantage of every possible tax advantage they can. They would not be honoring their fiduciary duty if they are not. Given the time Trump has been in business and the close to 600 entities he has had an interest, of which 4-6 used the bankruptcy laws, there better be years in which he has had zero income, or somebody should be fired.
What other non-public records “should” the people get to see? College records? Medical records? Court Briefs? Speech transcripts? Trading logs? White house travel staff records? Records of personal real estate and business dealings? Please chime in on what you think should be required? Should laws be changed to require those that seek public office to disclose certain non-public information? I’m guessing this list would not depend on political affiliation?
I think College records is a great idea, given that you’ve complained about Obama’s supposed bad grades. Medical records as well since Trumpies are whining about Hillary’s health.
Jefferson would probably tell Trump to release his tax returns to the public…Jefferson, our founding father…conserve the tradition and the wishes of the founding father, Jefferson.
Mark Sanford knows that and is asking for Trump to release the returns. Sure it is confusing blah blah but Romney did it and his returns are up there in the complicated returns category. But whatever…Trump’s odds of winning the election is pretty low right now.
Exactly, why would he release them if it wouldn’t improve his odds? Are you suggestion it would help his case? I think Jefferson would say hell no if he was advising Trump.
I was just simply stating what Jefferson had said - his statement is for the benefit of the citizens of the US and the US as a nation.
Nothing to do with IF he was advising Trump what would he say but rather just simply remembering Jefferson’s words.
Conserve what the founding fathers believed in and stay true to their visions. Also conserve the environment errr no…don’t conserve that lol. whatever…
Jefferson’s vision of state’s right has long been destroyed. He would think the constitution must have been burned . His shock would be that we are pretending to live under a system similar to the founding.
He probably would be surprised that anyone today would attempt to live by 18th century rules. Makes as much sense as Washington and Jefferson following some old legal charter from Henry VIII’s time.
Just a silly statement. They did allow for amendments. If there are archaic rules, should we ignore them or change them? I would prefer the rule of law.
Maybe we should move on from caring about the opinions of some guy from the 1800s who raped his slaves. I guess we all have different values.
What type of government would you like if not a constitutional republic? Good ideas are not dependent on the source, or are they, in Palantir World?
agreed…People from that era would be appalled to see Obama’s kids running around in the front lawn of the White House. “what happened here!!!”
Rape? Figuratively and/or literally? How do you know?
Also, just “some guy?” I gather you’re more of the John Adams type.
Going out on a limb here, but if you have sex with people you own, I would say that is rape…
Wouldn’t they think they were just on a tour of the White House? There were many free black Americans during the time. Some were even slave owners. Remember, slavery had nothing to do with race. The color of your skin did not condemn you. Your lineage must have included an original capture and enslavement back in Africa by neighboring tribes and even sometimes members of your own clan. Do you have some other understanding?

Yeah, it did.

Most slaves by the mid to late 1800s were born in America. A white kid born to a “white slave” or indentured servant was not a slave. A black one was.
Oh shit. Here we go. It’s not aviation, but geo is going off the rails again. Speaking authoritatively about slavery. Given I grew up with direct ancestors of light skinned slaves, I think I’ll take the lead on this subject as well. Light skin did not free you by law. And being born to a black person did not make you a slave unless, your mom was a slave. Maybe you can get that crap out of the Canadian school system. Ever read Japanese history books about America. Sounds like they have the same problem. You think a black or white slave owner was giving up their property because of its shade. Honestly, where does this stuff get started? Light skin slaves often did have easier lives. Domestic duties and the like.

May I suggest a trip to New Orleans. You can personally research court records. Many excellent tours that would be enlightening for the misinformed.
