Twisted joke... 100 extra pages! R34

So I am forging along making my way (again) through reading all of the level 2 CFAI curriculum and I finish with the Equity book with three months left and I’m feel pretty good then…BAM! I’ve been using the 2013 books because I have the hard copies and when I look at the digital copies I realize there are over 120 extra pages in the 2014 version… this has to be a joke. I mean a 3000+ page curriculum and they are adding hundreds of new pages each year!

So I go to look at the new material and it is completely pointless, just repeating concepts we have already covered except adding in all these little nuance formulas that are very niche. Over 100 pages and there’s 50… that’s right 50 in chapter exhibit problems that are all multi page examples that would literally take 20+ minutes each to work out.

These guys are ridiculous. Just wanting to torture people… and you know there are going to be a ton of questions from this pointless chapter on the 2014 exam because it is brand new and they will definitely test you over it.

Why are we doing this to ourselves?

If you are looking for a credential with real life application the CFA may not be the right cert.

I understand the initial annoyance this must give you, but the fact of the matter is you are sitting this for a second time and you’re close to finishing going through all the material with 3 months to go.

What are you complaining about? You are in a great position to pass this if you keep up the hard work.

I don’t see any problem here…you’re still leaps and bounds ahead in your preparation in comparison to many others.

To be fair, if this was going to concern you so much you should have looked at the LOS differences between this year and last before starting your studies, or just got current study materials. I would have thought this stuff is common sense to a Level 2 candidate - this isn’t your first CFA experience.

100 pages should be 2 or 3 hours of extra study. You’ll have over 300 hours of study/practice in by the time you finish. Lok at it this way, the 100 “extra” pages equates to <1% of more effort!!!

Actually I like that they have added it! Industry analysis is totally my thing so I love to add a new dimension. It is quite an easy reading though, their previous chapter on this topic had more substance.

50 pages an hour?

lol wut

Why not

Another way to look at it, more bang for your buck :stuck_out_tongue:
